Meg’s Creamery (formerly know as The Creamery) has been proudly under new ownership since 2022, bringing fresh energy, updated flavors, and a renewed commitment to quality and community. We’re a locally owned ice cream shop in Rio Linda serving handcrafted ice cream, rotating seasonal specialties, and better-for-you options including NSA and dairy-free selections. More than a scoop shop, we’re a neighborhood gathering place. Families stop in after school, teams celebrate big wins, and birthdays come to life in our private party room designed for small groups. I’m really impressed!
I tried The PB&J sundae and my wife got 2 scoops of the mint chocolate chip.
Highly recommend checking them out. Clean and friendly environment and the ice cream was amazing. The owner, Meg, is both friendly and helpful.

First time there and we had such a great time! I got a seasonal sundae (I think called the salted peach) with peach and butter pecan ice cream with butterscotch syrup and granola. It was very well balanced with sweet and salty and the crunch of the granola was a perfect addition. The portions were reasonable for the price and they have a great selection of just regular ice cream and specialty items.

I stop by Meg’s every few weeks as a treat, and whether it’s Meg or her husband behind the counter, they are both very courteous and helpful.
I usually get a couple of scoops of ice cream, I believe Cascade Glacier is their main supplier; although their chili dogs, shakes, and mini-sundaes did not disappoint. There were a few times I was disappointed a seasonal flavor or shake was discontinued, but if you ask, you can find out how much longer an ice cream flavor is sticking around for.
There are a few tables for eating inside, and a larger area further back for reserved events. It’s always clean and presentable.

This is one of the best kept secret little spots around. They open at 3pm and its just a wonderful evening spot. I took my daughter and her friend in there again tonight and the service is always superb. My daughter was deciding between 2 flavors and she told her you can taste them. we all enjoyed our evening and I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Used to come to the creamery as a little girl when mom would have laundry to do next door. The place was closed down for nearly a decade before the current owner reopened a few years back. Today was my first time back to The Creamery as an adult. It brought back all the nostalgia of those pleasant childhood memories. The new owner/ operator Kim was very sweet and personable. My cookies and cream milkshake was delicious. I thought the price was a bit steep ($7) but it turns out the shake is 20oz, so actually not bad. The flavor selection was really good for a small shop. They’ve even retained bubblegum, my childhood favorite. It’s clear that Kim is trying to preserve the old school charm, but she’s managed to make the place tidier and more modern- offering a new lunch menu. Thanks Kim. We will be back.
