I was greeted fast at the door as promised and seated promptly. The service was fantastic, the prices were extremely reasonable compared to industry standard, clean restrooms, and restaurant.
I ordered the Chicken and Sweet cream Waffles. It was hot, made to order and full of flavor starved with there large chicken fingers and bear paw printed waffle. I also tried the 14.99 all-you-can-eat fish fry. Dear lord! The fish was waaaay too good for 14.99. The filets were large long cuts served with savory hushpuppies, citrus coleslaw, and a bed of steak fries.
Minuses: My missus asked for the prime rib mid rare, it came more medium. That said, she did enjoy it.
Over all: Absolutely on the “return to” list!
The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth, and the interior is what you’d expect from any Black Bear Diner nationwide—cozy, rustic, and very family-friendly. My kids absolutely love it, which makes it a fun spot for family meals.
That said, taste is subjective. My wife isn’t particularly impressed and prefers Sherry’s, which is fair—everyone has their own favorite. Personally, I have a good time every time I go, and the consistency and friendly atmosphere keep me coming back. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for hearty, dependable diner food in a welcoming setting.
