Everything on the plate worked together and the meal felt simple, fresh, and really well prepared. The service was great and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Definitely a five star dish and something I would come back for again.
The oysters were very fresh and delicious, easily the highlight of the meal. The artichoke crab dip was also surprisingly good. I wasn’t sure how those flavors would mix together, but it ended up being really tasty and full of flavor.
Unfortunately, the Bolognese was where I was most let down. The sauce was very heavy and not what I expected. The pasta was also slightly undercooked, which made it less enjoyable overall. The person I was with and I split the entrée, and as shown in the photo, there is a clear before and after comparison showing how little we ate before deciding to stop because neither of us liked it.
The service was also disappointing. Our server greeted us, brought our drinks and food, and later brought the check, but there was no real engagement beyond that. He never came back to check if we liked our food, which would have been helpful with the Bolognese since we would have gladly tried something else had we been checked on. The plate sat in front of us for about 20 minutes untouched before the server returned to ask if we were finished. We let him know we didn’t like the dish, but instead of asking what was wrong, offering something different, or trying to make it right, he simply said “okay” and took the plate away.
When the check came, I was surprised to see that the Bolognese was still included on the bill, even though we had barely touched it and clearly expressed that we didn’t like it. As someone who also works as a server, I know how important it is to show care for the guest’s experience and at least attempt to make it right. It was disappointing to see that kind of service here.
Overall, I was pleased with the oysters, the dip, and the drinks, but the main course and service experience were not up to the standard I expected. I’m sharing this in a constructive way, not to be malicious, and have chosen not to include the server’s name out of respect. I hope this feedback helps the restaurant improve, because the food that was good was really good, and the place has potential to offer a great overall dining experience with a bit more attention to detail and guest care.
The only thing worth the price (during lunch) was thir amazing Dynamite shrimp.
Cocktails weren’t great, service is good.
Expensive and TBH not worth the price during lunch (other than the FANTASTIC Dynamite shrimp appetizer). Perhaps it’s better quality during dinner?
The scenery is nice, as in the atmosphere being nice and close to the water. The view being blocked mostly by thick dark pieces of wood was disappointing when they could have easily replaced that with something thinner and sturdy, but all in all a good atmosphere.
Service was great, the waiter frequently asked about if there was anything that he could get us and was kind.
Two appetizers, two entrees, two drinks, $130 with 22% tip…
