Originally I been going to chef creole on 119th before they closed & moved it here to 7th Ave. Me and my mom tried this one on Thursday and I came back and tried the white rice for the first time with the griot last night. I will start by saying I do love the rice and beans but the white rice definitely is my new favorite from chef creole, it was perfect with the griot. The flavors are on point and it definitely tastes authentic. The rice was good and seasoned well even better than Jamaican House and Donna’s, and everything was fresh and hot upon receiving.
My only critique would be the griot. It had excellent flavor and texture, but there was a bit too much fat compared to actual meat, and I feel like the portion of meat could be better for the price as both me and my mom said. If they trimmed it a little more or added more solid pieces, it would be perfect.
That said, I would still come back and give them another shot as I do plan to stick to this one and the one on 2nd Ave although I personally feel that this new one on 7th Ave do season the food a bit more, just needa work on cutting out a lot of fat with the griot and more meat like the one on 2nd Ave does. Solid food, just a little room for improvement on the griot. The place and atmosphere and everything overall is top tier and clean and friendly staff! Always less than a 15 minute wait.

Dear Management Team,

I am writing to express my concern regarding inconsistent food portions and the customer service I recently experienced at your restaurant.

I visit your business weekly and truly enjoy your food, which is why this issue is especially disappointing. I have noticed repeated inconsistencies in portion sizes, specifically with the griot and rice. On my first visit, I ordered griot with rice and beans and received a very small portion of pork. On a later visit, ordering the same dish, I was given a significantly larger portion. This lack of consistency has been frustrating.

When I brought this concern to the manager, I was hoping for assistance or clarification. Unfortunately, her response felt dismissive. She explained that sometimes closer to closing time customers receive “more” food, and at other times they receive the portion I was given. This explanation did not address the issue and left me feeling that portion control and customer satisfaction were not being taken seriously.

Consistent portions are important for fairness, trust, and overall customer satisfaction. As a loyal customer, I expect the same quality and quantity each time I place an order, regardless of the time of day.

I hope this feedback is taken into consideration, as I would like to continue supporting your restaurant. I appreciate your time and look forward to your response.

This my first time going to this Chef Creole on 7th Ave. The place is clean. No line no waiting. I ordered for my family. I’ve eating at other Chef Creole and love the food. I ordered fried pork and fry plantains. The rest of my family order pretty much order the same thing with rice and the wings. My nieces enjoyed the wings. The fried pork was not fried enough for me. But pop it in the air fry fix that problem the meat was delicious. I know next time to ask for it to me fried extra. The plantains were to thin and oily for me. I prefer the regular full plantains. It it was fried on high with a crisps, I believe it would be great. You know more like a chip. I will go again and try other stuff of the menu and revisit the food. But my review is based on my is ordered this time.
