The only sad part is that they should close a little late so people can enjoy a little more time there although I understand for the people who work here. I need to come back and try other foods that are promised to be great according to the other reviews.
Old Country Place in Hickory Flat isn’t just good. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you why small-town cooking will always beat the big chains. From the second we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and that “come on in, you’re family here” feeling.
Our server Alex was incredible, friendly, fast, and just plain cool to talk to. She made the meal feel personal. Then Koby, the owner, stopped by our table and couldn’t have been nicer. You can tell right away this place is built on pride, hard work, and heart.
And the food? Unreal. Every bite tasted like it came straight from someone’s backyard smoker who really knows what they’re doing. The brisket melted in your mouth, the ribs fell off the bone, and even the sides were next level. You can taste the care in everything.
I noticed they’ve got a 4.4-star rating on Google which in my book is good but, honestly, that doesn’t even come close to representing how good this place is. This is a solid 5-star spot in every way, with amazing food, outstanding service, and a perfect 100 on their food safety score.
This is the kind of place you don’t just eat at, you look forward to coming back to. Hickory Flat’s best-kept secret, hands down.
The sauce on the table was really disgusting (pic below) one of the bottles had residue build up on the side and needed to be cleaned.
My husband‘s brisket was dry. Mac & cheese was pretty good and came out piping hot, the fried okra was not extra fried like we asked, but it wasn’t bad.
The all beef chili cheese, slaw dog. The chili had habanero pepper in it which was not listed on the menu. I took one bite and could not eat the rest. The side salad was ordered with no onions. The salad was pretty good but came out with no croutons but Julie promptly got them for me.
Julie saw that I asked for no onions on my salad so she brought onions on the side of my hot dog which was awesome!!
Once Julie saw I had put my meal aside she came over and asked it if I did not like it which I advised it was too spicy. She took it back and also advised the slaw had a lot of pepper so she brought me a new one with everything on the side.
Julie you were awesome! Thank you!!!
