The Eye Opener is such a great breakfast spot! They have a huge variety of food options, so everyone can find something they’ll love. Our whole group ordered different omelets and every single one was delicious — fresh, filling, and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous and everything came out hot and flavorful.

The food was mediocre. Nothing special or different about it. I ordered French toast. They were cooked perfectly except they had a fried onion taste like it was cooked on the same grill as something fried. Our condiments were more than half empty. Cup looked like someone chewed on it. Our waiter looked stressed like she’d been crying and didn’t make eye contact the entire time.

Oh my goodness!! Delicious! Just left there; absolutely wonderful! We both got the Thin Lizzy Omelette but revised it, my girlfriend added crab (real by the way). I am an omelette SNOB it cannot be overcooked in anyway shape or form. Can I say PERFECTLY cooked? Yes! I added hollandaise which was amazing. We definitely will be back!

Ordered the morning sunshade with a side cup of sausage gravy. The omelet was ok, the fried potatoes were excellent, and the sausage gravy was blah. The sausage gravy was definitely from a can. It had little flavor and barley any sausage chunks. The staff was nice and friendly. The aesthetics of the place was dirty. The back long bench had stains everywhere on it, and the bench had rips in it. Under the tables had duck tape on them and definitely had not been wiped down in a very long time. The mens bathroom was out of paper towels. If I was in that neighborhood, I might stop back, but there is nothing exciting that would make me drive just to have a bite to eat.

The place is clean, organized, and well designed with a solid layout. The food looks and feels fresh, tastes good, and is presented with a simple, minimalist approach. Portions are small, but that’s not a bad thing in the grand scheme. Service is pleasant and courteous.

I had seen some reviews where service could be spotty, but not today. Woody, our server, was on his game, friendly and efficient. He continually checked on our table and kept the morning coffee coming. On a Wednesday morning, there was no wait for a table, and there was no issue when we added two more to our group after being seated.
This is a nice diner. The walls are decorated with photos of Akron history. The place was clean and inviting. They have some specials that deviate from your normal breakfast options, which is good.
I ordered the Thin Lizzy omelet. This is made with two eggs, chopped bell pepper and cheese. The omelet was a little underseasoned, but a few shakes of hot sauce made all the difference. This was served with their potato browns and sourdough toast. Both potato and toast were very good. The food came out of the kitchen quickly and hot. Eye opener met my expectations and more.

Nice, quaint,quiet trendy breakfast spot Adorned with historical city themed canvases and a few pieces from local artists. Located in the Walhaven Business district of upper West Akron.
Generally a wait to be seated and challenging parking,but the food is worth the wait.
Wait staff seems polite although, the wait was extesive for my To Go order. I would recommend.

If the hostess wasn’t there we wouldn’t have had any service at all. Waitress was too busy messing with her hair where the food is served and flirting with the male staff members preparing the food. When she took our order I explained precisely three times what dietary restrictions were and specifically what ingredients needed to be removed but she failed to mention it to the cook so when the over cooked omelet finally came to the table it couldn’t be eaten. I watched her play in her hair and chat it up with the cook while our food sat on the hot table for several minutes before she bothered to bring it to the table (although we had already waited quite some time.) Then when she marched right back to the window to continue her conversation, the only one I could flag down was the hostess because she was the only floor staff focused on the customers, even though she was stuck wiping tables by herself as quickly as possible because people were waiting to be seated. If I was that hostess I don’t know if I could put up with doing everyone’s jobs while the other staff were doing whatever they felt like. Never got my meal resolved, couldn’t wait another half hours for eggs. Really disappointed, used to be a decent spot to stop for breakfast.

I love this place for breakfast! This is one of the best diners in the Fairlawn/Walhaven area. They have great lunch items too. Today I ordered the Thin Lizzy (accidentally called it the Thin Lizzo when I ordered it ) It was really good and was a nice option for something light and the sourdough toast was really good! 10/10 for this place
