Very warm and welcoming place, just around 20 mins of drive from Munising, MI.

We came here for dinner after being disappointed by the service received at another nearby local restaurant, and instantly felt the warmth of this place.

Our server Robert looked after us even though we had walked in just a few minutes before the closing time.

Id recommend their Whitefish Poboy, it was soft and lightly tangy.

Best meal I’ve had in a long time – from relaxing atmosphere to delicious food to friendly waitress. House made dressings and sauces were wonderful. Jillian did a great job as a waitress pacing my meal (entree didn’t come out before I was done with app and salad and dessert wasn’t rushed). Being one of the first people there, sometimes you get all your food too quickly. She checked in regularly but gave me space to enjoy my wonderful meal. Steak perfectly medium rare and flavored well, garlic red skin potatoes not overpowering with garlic and well blended, carrot cake moist with good ratio of frosting. Recommend arriving in first 30min after opening as it fills up quickly. Well worth the drive. This will definitely be my new spot when visiting!

I’m giving the food a 2 because the French Onion soup was great. Everything else was decided mediocre. We had the meatloaf dinner, the Whitefish basket and the coconut shrimp dinner – 6 mid shrimp for $34 is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. It did come with mashed potatoes that were pretty dry and bland, and I substituted the salad for the onion soup (which like I said was delicious.)

But far the worst part was the service. They had a live band performing, and the host refused to seat us further away from the music (we even offered to wait, but he resisted that) so we were at a table right next to them, couldn’t hear each other or have any sort of conversation. Our server, Robert, didn’t check on us and didn’t refill drinks even after we asked. We ended up asking a different server after waiting quite awhile and we still didn’t get refills. Disappointing after all the good things I’ve heard about this place.

I had an absolutely phenomenal dining experience at Brownstone, thanks to our incredible server, Kaye! From the moment we were seated, Kaye’s warm, welcoming energy set the tone for an unforgettable evening. She went above and beyond, delivering service that was not only professional but genuinely heartfelt.

Kaye’s attention to detail was impeccable—she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring our glasses were always filled and our preferences were perfectly catered to. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and her recommendations were spot-on, elevating our meal with pairings that made every bite a delight. What truly stood out was her infectious enthusiasm and genuine care; she checked in with us just the right amount, making us feel valued without ever being intrusive.

Beyond her efficiency, Kaye’s kindness and charisma made the experience feel personal and special. She handled a small mix-up with one of our orders with such grace and speed that it only added to our appreciation for her. It’s clear she loves what she does, and her passion for creating a memorable dining experience shines through in every interaction.

Brownstone is lucky to have such a stellar team member, and Kaye’s exceptional service made our night truly unforgettable. We’ll be back soon, and we’re already looking forward to being welcomed by her again! Highly recommend dining here and requesting Kaye for an extraordinary experience.

Went here for dinner and it was awesome. The service was kind and attentive, the vibe was rustic, and the menu was pretty varied. We got a perch po boy sandwich and the roasted chicken with rice. Both were tasty and flavorful.

Wait, did I just have the best meal in my entire life? A friend highly recommended this place but I was unsure the drive would be worth it, but we decided to go and are glad we did. Wow! The blackened white fish was stunning! Service was good. We will be back!

This was a very pleasant surprise. Being our first time in the area, we didn’t know what to expect and were not disappointed. The food was excellent – three of us shared the lobster nachos (heaped with delicious lobster), huge slabs of elk meatloaf cooked perfectly (moist and tangy) with mashed potatoes, and the fish fry with generous portions of whitefish, walleye, and yellow belly perch. Whitefish chowder was rich with a nice kick to it. Drinks were awesome – sour old fashioneds and a sour beer. The service from the cheerful and knowledgeable Lilly was on point. All in a fun atmosphere of an old stone inn with cool rustic decor.

The service and atmosphere here is so calm and welcoming! The quality of food was great. I am overall not a fan of fried food and burgers so my options of dishes in this area are limited. Loved the coleslaw.
