Our first visit to Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant took place on a weekend around noon, when the dining room was notably quiet with few patrons present.
We opted for the fajitas for one, priced at $28.95—a figure that felt steep relative to the portion and overall presentation. While the beef fajita meat itself was a highlight—tender, well-seasoned, and flavorful enough to carry the dish—the accompanying sides fell short. The rice and beans lacked seasoning and depth, coming across as bland and underwhelming. The house salsa was average at best, offering mild freshness without much complexity or kick.
On a positive note, the queso stood out as excellent: creamy, rich, and well-balanced, making it one of the stronger elements of the meal. Service was attentive and professional throughout, which helped mitigate some of the disappointments.
The atmosphere leaned casual and family-friendly, though the limited number of televisions (mostly concentrated in the bar area) was a drawback for those hoping to catch sports during the visit.
Lupe Tortilla is a well-established Tex-Mex chain with a loyal following, particularly praised in many reviews for its signature fajitas and fresh tortillas. However, this particular experience highlighted inconsistencies in value and side quality that didn’t align with the premium pricing. While the standout meat and queso show promise, the overall execution left us unlikely to return soon. For those seeking reliable fajitas in the area, it may warrant a try on a busier day or with different menu items, but expectations should be tempered around portion value and side dishes.

Absolutely love this place! Kinda new to TX and was introduced to Lupe by a coworker. And my husband and I weekly regulars now! love all the food and margaritas. Never disappointed by this place. Serving staff are amazing and we have a favorite bar tender too! Love the free appetizers of chips, salsa, and beans included with your meal! Actually my favorite part of my meal. We like it hope you do too!

The shrimp tacos, salsa and enchilada combo plate were very tasty. The Patron margaritas were the bomb (forgot to take a picture). But it was overall noisy in the restaurant (the seating area behind the bar) which was caused by the kitchen and not the guests. My mom and I could hardly hear our server and vice versa. Perhaps putting a good solid piece of plex glass may decrease the noise. Sadly, diversity was lacking in customers and employees which was puzzling for the area.

Had the hot chicken puffy tacos and they were pretty good. Next time wife and I are going to split some fish tacos. Dining room was very loud and service was a bit slow. Overall though we like it. Salsa was spicy and the beans were delicious.

Super fun restaurant. They’re known for their fajitas and they’ll even bring you a sample. We had wonderful service and the food was delicious. The margarita flight was a big hit and the burrito was huge and enchiladas didn’t disappoint. We’ll swing by whenever we’re in the area for more great food.

Food and service were good, but something I witnessed during my visit was very concerning.

While dining, the restaurant was hosting a private event for a company called “First Choice Wellness” that was giving a presentation to older attendees about stem cell treatments. These types of dinner seminars are commonly used to market expensive medical procedures that are often not FDA-approved for most of the conditions they claim to treat.

According to our server, events like this have been hosted repeatedly, sometimes multiple times in a single day. Seeing what appeared to be a medical sales presentation directed at seniors in a restaurant setting was deeply uncomfortable. Major health decisions should be made with a personal physician after careful medical guidance, not during a sales-style dinner event!

Afterward, I tried to learn more about the organization and was unable to find clear information showing affiliation with a hospital, university, or established medical provider, which added to my concern.

I am not suggesting the restaurant endorses the content of private bookings, but allowing health-related marketing like this (especially when it targets older adults) raises serious concerns. I hope management takes a closer look at the types of events being hosted.

If you or a family member attend something like this, please consult your doctor before agreeing to any treatment.

The food and staff themselves were great. This review is shared out of genuine concern for the community.

Tacos are really good I felt new taste in that fluffy tacos. I ordered one more item Cilantro Jalapeno Chicken which is spicy but the chicken breast is too hard to eat and I can feel only Jalapeno spice not that taste and smashed beans & rice is not upto the mark.

If you are looking for authentic, high-quality Tex-Mex, Lupe Tortilla remains a top-tier choice. From the atmosphere to the execution of the food, it’s a consistent crowd-pleaser that rarely misses the mark.
The Food
The menu offers a great balance between indulgent classics and lighter fare. Based on my frequent visits, here are the standout dishes:
The Heavy Hitters: You can’t go wrong with the Beef Fajitas—they are arguably some of the best in the business, known for their unique lime-marinated flavor. The Chicken Lupe is another must-try for those who want something savory and satisfying.
Lighter Options: If you’re looking for a crunch without the heavy calories, the Taco Salad is a solid go-to. For an even lighter meal, the Ensalada Verde is fresh, crisp, and perfect for a mid-day lunch.
The Service & Management
One of the reasons this location stands out is the people. The wait staff is consistently great—attentive without being overbearing. It’s also clear that the management staff is awesome and highly involved; you can tell the restaurant is well-run by how smoothly the floor operates even during the rushes.
Pro-Tips for Timing
Because it’s a local favorite, you have to plan your visit accordingly.
Peak Times: Expect longer waits (typically 30–45 minutes) on Friday nights after 5:30 PM and throughout most of Saturday.
Advice: If you aren’t a fan of waiting, try arriving for an early dinner or a weekday lunch to walk right in.
Overall Verdict: Excellent food and top-notch service make Lupe Tortilla a must-visit, just be prepared for a wait during the weekend rush!

Tonight was my birthday, so to celebrate we went to Lupe Tortilla, I have been many many many times to the location by the Domain, but this is the first time we have been to this location in Cedar Park. I added us to the waiting list online as it was Saturday and I knew it would be busy. The text confirmation said it would be a 25-30 minute wait. This is to be expected on a Saturday night, but for our table of two we waited an entire hour. When we finally were seated the hostess said “wow y’all must be hungry!”, and yes, we very much were, but in the interest of being polite and civilized I just tried to keep a positive attitude about it all. We waited a good other 15 minutes waiting for our waiter to even approach the table, and we ordered right away. Waited another 30 minutes for the food only for our order to be wrong. By then I just really wanted to leave, even though I had really had my mind set on Tres Leches cake, if I had known I was going to be spending 2 hours of my birthday being hungry I would have just eaten at Taco Bell. The manager seemed to think it was humorous, and although she tried to “make it right”, there’s no need. We will never be back again. The food is delicious, but I can slaughter a cow, process the meat, marinate the meat, and flame grill the meat faster than they could even sit us at a table. Never again.
