In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.
Easygoing chain serving familiar all-day comfort food & desserts in a woodsy setting.

I never knew this franchise existed until my girlfriend and I wanted to try somewhere new. It was such a cozy experience and the staff was very friendly. The food isn’t out of this world, but it hits everything just right. Large portions and reasonable prices. The Bigfoot isn’t nearly as big as the name would imply, so don’t be scared away by it, hahaha

This spot has become part of our weekly routine, and it never disappoints. Every visit feels just as enjoyable as the last. The food is consistently delicious and arrives just the way we like it. The service is attentive and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. Jennifer always makes us feel comfortable with her warm and caring attitude, checking on us regularly and making sure everything is perfect.

First time at a Black Bear Diner and didn’t know what to expect, but I must say, I was very happy! Left very full. Will definitely return and try something else. My sister had the pancakes and they looked delicious.
Our server Vanessa was great. Her section was pretty full, but she still managed to talk to every table and didn’t rush us to order. She still took her time and was very patient!

Out of state visitor here, I got recommended to visit here. I loved it a ton! Food was good, the atmosphere felt home-y, and Ashley was amazing and owned the place! (figuratively) I got the Scrambowl and it was flavorful and filling along with the thickest pancake I have ever had. Can’t recommend this place enough when you are in the area.

I’ve been to a few Black Bear Dinners around California and always find them very good. However the Fullerton restaurant just wasn’t as good as Buena Park or Barstow. Same friendly service and all but just not quite on par.

I had Black Bear Diner for the first time in years last Saturday and today I’m back again because it was just too good! The Grizz has become my new fave breakfast; you get bacon, sausage, ham, hashbrowns, egg, and pancakes which I subbed for french toast! Seriously so yummy and the service has been so great every time! Our server Cindy was so kind and attentive today and checked up on us constantly throughout our visit. I can’t wait to come back again. ☺️

Our server Jenna was amazing, very mindful about my allergy, she welcomed us with a very good behavior and pretty smile.
The food was good,
I had Shasta Veggie Scramble which was delicious and my husband had the New York steak and eggs which was very delicious as well came with toasted bread.
I asked for a whole wheat bread, I appreciated the concern from Jenna.
We also ordered plain pancakes which was good with honey !
I would have loved to have whole wheat pancakes which they unfortunately don’t have.
Probably they will think about it and add it to their menu for people who have allergy.
I highly recommend this spot.
And we will come back hopefully they will have whole wheat pancake and bread.
