We were 3 couples and we were trying out the “Happening Gourmand” menu for $49. We were warmly greeted and seated at our table. Our waiter Kenny was excellent. He was efficient and attentive. The decor of the restaurant is very appealing and had former bank vibes. The washrooms need a deep clean and a slight refresh but are well equipped. With the Happening Gourmand menu, you get a choice of soup or salad. One person took the soup and said it was delicious. The rest of us took the spinach salad. It was good but was heavy on the salt. The dressing was yummy. My wife and I took the braised beef cheek and despite the plates arriving covered with stainless steel lids to our table, the food was almost cold. Once again, the beef jus reduction sauce was on the salty side and the beef cheek was on the dry side and not as tender as it should have been both being braised and a cut of beef which is usually very tender. Plating was also ordinary and lacked any creative/artistic appeal. All in all the meal was decent but lacked culinary finesse. The service and decor definitely add to the experience.

We had a very good breakfast, with fair prices considering it’s located inside the Place d’Armes Hotel and right in front of Notre Dame. We ordered avocado toast, forest omelette, and chicken waffle, all were enjoyable. The service was good, although they were short-staffed during our visit, which was noticeable.

The bar is very high in Montreal, so I save a 5-star rating for truly exceptional experiences.

We had a great time at the Christmas brunch buffet, and our waitress Melissa was a darling!

Our party of six was comfortably seated in the corner, and we each enjoyed the food that appealed to us. The ooey gooey chocolatey marshamallowy cookie was especially tasty!

I decided to have some lunch at this french restaurant in Montreal and I was blewn away by the freshness and flavor of the food!

The service here was great. I chose bar seating as I was for one, because of this I had a chance to interact with a few of the service team and they were able to help me decide what to try on the menu! They were also very friendly, accommodating and relatable!

This was my first time having beef tartar and let me tell you, I’m so glad I tried it here and not anywhere else! The flavors of the tartar were elegant but bold and blended together so smoothly in every bite. If your having any thoughts about trying the beef tartar, I recommend!

Stepping into this establishment was nothing short of AMAZING! The French architecture of the building and surrounding areas was mind blowing. From the food to the decor and inside aesthetics, this is an absolute brunch experience you don’t want to miss when visiting Montreal. Our waitress Melissa was such a warm soul with a pleasant attitude and just an overall zest for life… she made our dining experience incredible! Kudos to her and the entire wait staff. My husband really enjoyed his birthday brunch!

Had an amazing brunch at Brasserie 701 today! I ordered the chicken & waffles and it was absolutely delicious. My friends got the vegetarian benedicts, the forest omelette, and the bacon omelette — and everyone loved their dishes. Not a single miss! Our server, Elodie, was super friendly and really made the experience even better. The atmosphere is beautiful and very classy. Definitely in my top 10 brunch spots in Montreal. Highly recommend! ✨

I really loved the experience. We had a private event, and Melissa was amazing. She took all the orders accurately, was easy to talk to, and very patient throughout. The food was great, though it arrived a bit cold, and I wish it had been warmer.

Been here a few times but it was my first dinner. The Niçoise salad was surprisingly pretty good. I told my daughter they had a really good beef tartare(had it for lunch last fall) but we were disappointed it was a little chewy and the potion smaller. However the sea bass with the leeks & purée were well prepared and delicious. Sealed the meal with a crème brûlée which was good!

Our server Melissa was amazing and made our brunch so special. She really went out of her way to ensure we enjoyed our experience. And the food was incredible. She is by far the best server we have had since moving to Montreal 6 years ago.

We spent Valentine’s Day at Brasserie 701, and it was the absolute highlight of our evening in the Old Port. The atmosphere was perfectly romantic, but what truly set the night apart was the incredible team taking care of us.
A massive shoutout to Shady and Felix behind the bar, their service was impeccable. They were attentive, fast, and added a great energy to the night while making sure every detail was handled. It’s rare to find staff that can balance a busy holiday crowd with such genuine, personalized care, but the entire team here made it look easy.
As for the food: the Filet Mignon was cooked to absolute perfection, incredibly tender and flavorful. We also had the Duck Entree, which was rich, beautifully presented, and easily one of the best dishes we’ve had in a long time.
If you’re looking for a spot that combines a stunning historic setting with top-tier service and a menu that delivers, this is it. Thank you, Shady and Felix, for making our Valentine’s Day so memorable. We’ll definitely be back!
