I ended up dining alone unexpectedly, and what could’ve ended up being a Saturday night I’d rather forget has become one that I will rave about to whoever will listen. The food was great, but the service is what made the night worth every dollar spent. Sean and Allen behind the bar treated me with so much warmth and familiarity, making me as a first-time visitor feel like a lifelong regular. This sense of hospitality and kindness was present from every staff member I interacted with, a quality that feels increasingly rare today. It’s no wonder this place continues to have a cult following, after tonight I am a full convert. And this is coming from someone with a pathological fear of the animal that is this place’s namesake.

✔ Burger ($30): Yes, $30 is steep, but honestly one of the best burgers in LA. Perfectly cooked medium, super juicy, soft fluffy bun, and that melted cheese just tied everything together. The fries? Extra crispy and addictive.
Secret tip: mix their house sauce + ketchup = game changer
✔ Off-menu pasta: Ask for it! Oven-baked with a golden, crispy top, soft and creamy inside with a subtle spicy kick that keeps you coming back for more. The toasted parmesan layer adds the perfect crunch with every bite. Absolutely worth it.

Food was fantastic. We started with the Caesar salad. It was slightly different from your typical Caesar, and oh so delicious. My husband had the Cornish Game Hen and he just devoured it. It was so flavorful. We really loved the sauce. It was amazing. Especially having those bits of bread to soak it all up— we are obsessed. I had the off menu pasta, which was really tasty. We finished our meal off with the Eton Mess and it was divine. We hadn’t gone to a restaurant where we loved every single item we ordered in a long time. The cocktails were great as well.
Service was good. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and very helpful in his suggestions. The food menu options are limited, which we prefer, because I think it allows a restaurant to really perfect their selections and they definitely have. Quality over quantity, always.
My husband and I are both older adults, but I was honestly delighted that our waiter provided us with crayons for the table. I wasn’t expecting it at a restaurant like this. We had a lot of fun doodling and playing “tic tac toe” and “hangman” in between courses.
Overall, we loved the entire vibe. The little horse details were cute. We’ve been doing a lot of horse track betting lately, so we wanted to continue on with the theme for dinner, which was perfect! We will definitely be back.

We went for the burger, and it was a huge disappointment. We had some great surprises along the way though. Their butter is just amazing. And I would come back for that alone. Dessert was pretty good as well. Staff was very friendly. Shame the burger wasn’t to our liking.

If you’re more in the mood for a low-key dinner, the main dining room offers a more comfortable, quieter energy, and the outdoor patio has just enough twinkle to make it feel like a proper date spot.
The menu? Small. Purposefully so. And that’s part of the brilliance—no Cheesecake Factory novel of options here. Just a few dishes done extremely well. The butcher’s steak is a textbook example of why less is more, the hamburger and fries are classic in the best sense (like, if you had friends visiting from France and wanted to show them what an LA burger should taste like), and the Caesar salad is oddly genius—its own thing entirely. Loved this place! Trendy restaurant with Italian/French cuisine. Great for dates or groups! I recommend sharing a couple of starters such as the Caesar salad (this is brought with cheddar cheese which was interesting), the smoked salmon flatbread and bread with butter (they make the butter in house). For entrees, I ordered the cheeseburger with a delicious side salad. The stripes trout was also a lighter option that was great. For dessert go for the chocolate cake with marshmallow. Service was a little slow. Prices are high.

Finally made it to Horses LA. Dubbed a “cult favorite,” and despite what you may have heard, the hostess Amanda at the front was actually very nice and seated us right away.
We were placed at the back bar near an exit door—which probably shouldn’t be a seat, but hey, it’s an LA restaurant squeezing you in without your comfort in mind. Between getting bumped by boxes, cold air blowing in and servers squeezing past all night, it wasn’t ideal. That said, we still had a great time. The bar was packed with lesbian couples, a gay server, and an eclectic crowd that made me feel like I’d stepped into a liberal Hollywood movie. Shout out to our server who was super cool and genuinely hospitable and the people at the bar who really added to the experience.
The decor is old Hollywood and lively, and overall the atmosphere is great for grabbing drinks with friends and embracing a night of chaotic fun. Probably not the best spot for a romantic date with my girlfriend, but perfect for a rowdy night out.
For drinks, we ordered a dirty martini and a Midori sour. Thankfully, they didn’t mess up the martini, but the Midori sour was pretty watered down. Oh well.

I had been told to visit Horses for a while now and finally decided to go on my birthday. It was extremely busy starting around 8pm for a Wednesday night. We were a few minutes late and the hostess wasn’t very impressed but still managed to get us a nice booth for dinner even though we didn’t request it beforehand on the reservation which we didn’t know we could do. You can also get food at the bar if there are no tables available. The drinks are delicious. I got the Horse’s Bramble which was delicious. Note it’s premixed so you can’t change the alcohol from vodka to gin for example. I also got this rum drink which was delicious but I forgot the name. For dinner we were highly recommended the off the menu baked vodka pasta dish which was amazing. That along with the Caesar Endive salad are the best things you must get when you go. Don’t bother with the pork. I could have missed that and instead should have done the cheese burger which everyone recommended to me before going.
The parking is difficult and so I’d recommend doing valet. Overall I left very satisfied and would definitely go again.
