Food was good and service was friendly and inside was nice, but two things that both deserve one star removed. First, a bit pricy, especially compared to the competitors, I got a general tso combo for $16 after tax, little pricy, three Chinese restaurants nearby charge around $11-13, and secondly, the general tso combo was way too spicy. I wish they asked if I wanted it spicy or not, I would’ve said not super spicy.

My family’s favorite restaurant in Old Saybrook! Sushi is absolutely delicious! I’ve eaten Sushi all over and nothing compares to Zhangs! Chinese dishes just as good! Staff is so so friendly and fast, we love them!

I was driving through Connecticut when my buddy and I decided to stop for lunch. Zhangs looked promising. This place has a great atmosphere and authentic vibe to it. When I go to a mom and pop asian restaurant I know its going to be good when the illuminated pictures are faded lol. The staff was kind and took pride in their offerings. The waitress/hostess made sure to check on us but she gave enough space for us to enjoy our food. I ordered Curry Chicken and rice. The spice level was perfect. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it tasted like it was marinated and/or sautéed in a curry sauce. The vegetables were fresh, and the best part in my opinion was the curry gravy. This place perfected their curry gravy. The combination of the sauce cooked into the chicken and the curry gravy was phenomenal. The rice serving was good, I don’t think I finished it all. I know my picture doesn’t display it well but the portion sizes were generous. I also had a thai iced tea which was sweet and not overdone with syrup and artificial sweeteners.

Admittedly it was Christmas Eve and busy but the restaurant’s on line ordering kept accepting orders although the kitchen was overwhelmed. System said to pick up in 30 mins but ALL the customers who showed up to pick up their orders had to wait an ADDITIONALl 1.5 hours!! Even worse, the one staff mrmber at the counter could never provide an estimated. Customers had to figure out their wait time by comparing their order time vs. the those customers who just received their order. Terrible customer service.

The service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant could be cleaner. I ordered Pad Thai and it was orange, different from any pad Thai I’ve had, it was ok but not what I expected. The food was very fresh though. The drinks were served in very small glasses. This is not a restaurant I will be returning to.

Great sushi and respectable service. All of the food tasted great and it came very quick. The bathrooms were very clean as well. The prices on some things were a little steep in comparison to other sushi restaurants, considering that their presentation isn’t impressive at all the prices don’t seem reasonable but it could be because of their location.

This is a very nice Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu including many Asian cuisine including Japanese and Thai favorites such as sushi and crab Rangoon. The service is excellent and the dining area is very nice to sit for a meal; they also do a lot of take out orders. Fine, fresh food and generous portions at a moderate price.
