This is a true dining experience from the moment you arrive to the last bite of dessert.
Parking is easy and seamless. You can valet or park in the shopping center without stress. While you wait, they offer a glass of champagne and you can sit by the fire, which instantly sets the tone. It feels intentional and elevated before you even reach your table.
The service was exceptional from beginning to end. The entire team was welcoming and attentive, but our waiter Marco truly stood out. He was knowledgeable about every dish, offered thoughtful recommendations, and timed everything perfectly. He checked in without hovering and made the evening feel personal and smooth. Ask for Marco. He absolutely enhances the experience.
The food is where this place really shines. The Mini Short Rib French Dips were unbelievably tender and deeply flavorful. The gruyere melted beautifully into the meat and the garlic toast added the perfect texture. The au jus was rich and balanced, but what stood out most was that it was not there to mask anything. The short rib was already seasoned and slow cooked to perfection. The sauce simply enhanced the natural depth of flavor instead of covering up a lack of it.
The Sake Glazed Chilean Seabass was buttery and delicate with a flawless cook. The glaze complemented the fish without overpowering it. The dashi broth and vegetables highlighted the seabass rather than competing with it. Every sauce throughout the meal felt purposeful and refined. Nothing was heavy handed. It was clear the kitchen uses sauces to elevate and layer flavor, not to fix shortcomings.
The fully loaded crispy mashed potatoes were a shocking but amazing surprise. They were shaped almost like a potato egg roll with a perfectly crisp exterior and a creamy mashed potato center. The texture contrast made them incredibly satisfying and honestly one of the most memorable bites of the night.
The Butter Cake was rich, warm, and indulgent. I personally could have done without the raspberry, but it was clearly fresh and high quality. It added brightness and contrast to the sweetness of the cake and vanilla ice cream.
And the Real Peach Bellini was so good I ordered two. It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. You could actually taste the real peach and the quality of the ingredients. It paired beautifully with the meal and was the perfect finishing touch.
Overall, this is elevated dining done right. Every detail feels intentional, from the welcome champagne to the final dessert and drinks. The flavors are balanced, the sauces enhance instead of overpower, and the service ties everything together. Five stars all around. I will absolutely be back
After a long flight, I just wanted something simple, and my favorites. I ordered a 14oz New York and an Old Fashioned to wash it all down.
The drink was great – i paid a little extra for Woodford bourbon. The steak was great – I added the mushrooms as extra. The sides were broccolini and peppers, with mashed potatoes with sour cream wrapped in a sheet, so it looked a lot like an egg role. Presentation was great. My son got the same except he added the side lobster tail, which was a good size, and he enjoyed that.
All in all, the reviews are in line with my thoughts. Great food, great service and you can’t go wrong. The place is a little noisy, so if you’re looking for a quiet meal, this is not the place. It caters to all, couples to big parties. We sat in the patio area which is really nice. Recommended.
The food was incredible! Definitely our favorite meal while visiting Newport.
The food was absolutely delicious perfectly prepared and full of flavor and the drink she suggested was amazing. It complemented the meal so well and ended up being one of the highlights of the night.
If you’re dining at Joey’s Newport Beach, ask for Tiffany. She truly goes above and beyond and makes the experience unforgettable.
