(LJS) founder Jerome Lederer In 1929 opened a 6 seat hamburger shop In Shelbyville ky, remained strong thru the Great Depression and in ww2 there was a shortage of meat, sugar and manpower so the company regrouped in the 40’s and focused on roast beef sandwiches at 15 cents. Then in the 70’ the company Jerrico started LJS being a fast food chain of about 1000 fleets by 1979, mainly seafood. I have been eating at this particular LJS for at least 39 years. It never disappoints . The food is served hot by friendly staff and always clean. I can say I have been ring that bell for 39 years.

You need new management bad. Their is no reason why a customer need to hear your employees threatening each other . Had orders wrong. Giving out the wrong food to customers .I glad got a refund . But only then did the management come from the back to give me my refund. Which was in cash. Good management would hAve been to the front.

Sad to see this restaurant is closing. One of the actual good restaurants in Jackson. Wish they would actual put some money into the place instead of shutting down.

walked in it’s smoky ashl . i can understand that bc it’s a fish n chips spot . but what ion understand is the service . bc i ordered a fish chicken and shrimp meal the number 11 . and i had ordered water with the meal bc i guess in a meal at this place the drink isn’t included on some meal options . well as i was getting my drink , my wife forgot we ordered water . so as she was grabbing her drink , the waiter said , “ if you want soda u gotta pay “ in an way of attitude . so i said ok . we waited about 30 min for our meal . it did come out hot and delicious. bc it’s pretty straight forward, besides the fries . they were a little over cooked i feel like . but still, they was pretty good . anyway , the woman forgot to put two fish she put one . so when my wife went to go ask her where the other was , she gave her a look and looked at me im assuming to see if i was cuffing a piece of fish ♂️ and she said “ so you only got one fish “ and then got the fish . i feel like she only gave us one fish bc my wife accidentally went to go get a drink .

We went through the drive thru a little after 730 not realizing they closed at 8; the young lady at the window was super friendly and engaging so no issues with service but the food was awful! When we got home approximately 10 minutes later the fish and chicken were so bad we had to throw it away. It tasted foul almost like the oil hadn’t been changed in a while and there was nearly no batter on the items (probably slid off from the gross oil). I have never had a complaint before on the food and the hush puppies were great as always. We didnt call back to complain because they were closing but I wish we had. Over $20 for 2 meals and we basically got hush puppies.

It’s not a bad stop to grab some fried fish when you wanna mix things up a little bit from the old burger, pizza, or tacos. Nothing to write home about but decent service, cleanliness, etc and a fair price. Overall, would recommend if that’s what you are looking for.

It had been a while since I visited. It seemed like a stellar idea because I wanted fish and hubby wanted chicken. The service was perfectly fine. The lady working the drive thru has been there a very long time. She’s always very nice. The food, however, isn’t how I remembered it. There’s no more corn on the cob. It looked and tasted like canned corn. The fries were rubbery. The fish, his puppies, and Cole slaw we’re good. Hubby said the chicken wasn’t as good as it used to be. I have faith that it will get better…it has to. 🙂
