Saturday early dinner with friends. This is a great find. Casual eats that are 5 star+. The Food Lab is serving up a great little menu backed with a great selection of local brews and wines from their food truck. No reservations (but a large group giving a heads up always up helps the chef) and a weekly menu that reflects the areas bounty. Arrive and order at the main counter. Receive a pager, and sit at a large seating area (communal/family style) or smaller tables of 4. We opted to put a couple of tables together to btr. talk in the group. When the pagers buzzed a short walk to the truck and our meals were ready. The group started with green olives and almonds! Excellent. The entrees ordered were the fish (rock cod) tacos 2 fully loaded which was plenty for my husband. Another was their special, the Aloha smash burger. Seasoned perfectly, lots of cheese, a little sweetness in pineapple. Another had their regular smash burger that pleased my companion as well as my aloha burger did me. The last entree was a grilled cheese with tomato soup. Grilled cheese is ooy gooey goodness with an assortment of roasted peppers. The tomato soup (I had a taste) was best I’ve ever had. Word of advisement, garlic fries are served as a side, and while I like garlic and felt they were seasoned just right, if you don’t like garlic you might feel these overpower. Also ordered was the soup minestrone, which my husband said was a 10.. To finish was a lavender creme brulee with blueberries and a peanut crunch complementing the creamy texture of the brulee. There was just the right amount of lavender too! If you don’t stop out for a try (you’ll end up coming back or keeping this place for take out!) You are really missing out! The place is decorated with plants and hanging crab pots that are decorated in textiles. Gentle music in background doesn’t compete with conversation. Try it we think you’ll like it. (Sorry was so absorbed in meal forgot photos)

The Food Lab, the food truck associated with Power Plant Coffee on Highway 1, serves delicious food. I had the house clam chowder with pasilla chili pesto garnish, which was excellent, and the tomatoes from my wedge salad melted in my mouth. Everyone in my group loved their food and combined with a beer from The Landing, it made for a perfect lunch. I also want to give out a shout out to chefs Todd and Martha who not only came looking for us with our food when we were delayed picking up our order, but also made sure we had the utensils and condiments we needed. One important thing to note is that Todd and Martha do not receive any of the tips given when placing your order inside. So show them some appreciation by tipping them directly at the food truck.
