Everytime I’ve been here it’s been so yummy! So yay for consistency.

I came to dine alone at the bar and had such a great meal. The Thai place I usually go to in my neighborhood was closed today on Monday so I made the trek over to grandma’s.
I got the Khao Soi curry noodles – at any other Thai place I get curry but they do this so well! It’s a pretty big bowl, so come hungry.
I also got recommended by Dom to try the coconut cake because I asked about the mango sticky rice which isn’t really in season in the winter.
So glad I did. Was such a delicate and sweet way to end the meal- I don’t think I’ve had coconut cake like that before, ever. Dom tells me it’s made in house which it definitely tasted like.
The ambiance was cute too- lots of flowers which made it feel whimsical and cozy at the same time.
When I turned around it was packed and there’s all different kinds of seating- for parties of 2 or larger groups.
Thank you Dom and Kels for a lovely dining experience! You two made my day 🙂

5 Stars – One of the Best Thai Spots in Philly!
Grandma Philly’s Thai Restaurant is an absolute gem, and I’m giving it 5 stars across the board—food, service, value, atmosphere, everything.

The ambiance felt warm and welcoming: cozy lighting, tasteful Thai decor, and just the right level of bustle without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a casual date night, family dinner, or solo takeout when you’re craving something comforting and flavorful.

The food is where this place truly shines. They clearly use high-quality, fresh ingredients—you can taste the difference in every dish. There’s a generous hand with ginger throughout the menu, which gives everything that bright, aromatic kick I love in authentic Thai cooking. The spice level is spot-on too: bold and layered without being overpowering, and they’ll happily adjust it to your preference.

The soups are excellent—easily some of the standout items. Whether it’s a rich tom yum or a creamy tom kha, they’re packed with flavor, perfectly balanced, and incredibly satisfying on a cold Philly day.

I also had the Pad Thai, and honestly, it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the sauce had that ideal sweet-tangy-savory balance, loaded with protein, and that signature ginger punch. Everything was fresh.

Portion sizes are generous—you definitely get your money’s worth for the quality and quantity. You leave full, happy, and with leftovers for later, all without breaking the bank.

Highly, highly recommend giving it a try—you won’t be disappointed!

Also great job to our server Vladimir!

It’s a modern take of Thai cuisine. If you’re looking for old school authentic Thai cuisine, this isn’t for you. This is modern Thai that is geared to be more Western friendly. If you are trying to introduce someone to Thai cuisine and trying not to shock them with strong flavors, sure this is a good entry level.
It’s not bad at all, but certainly not the type of cuisine you’ll find on the streets of Bangkok. Instead of Grandma’s, this is probably better named Hip Grandma’s.
You’ll be fine as long as you know what you’re getting into and manage your expectations.

They take both cash and card, with extra 4% charge if you use a card.

Grandma’s Philly Thai earns a glowing 5-star rating for its “flavor bomb” cuisine and exceptional hospitality. The menu excels across the board, featuring standout dishes like the crispy pork stir-fry, Grandma’s meatballs, and the highly recommended Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). Diners praised the kitchen’s ability to balance bold spices with perfectly cooked proteins, including fresh seafood and various vegan-friendly options like the Massaman curry.

The experience is bolstered by a “super cute” atmosphere and a professional staff. Servers Dominic and Jada were specifically highlighted for their menu expertise, accurate spice-level descriptions, and attentive, well-paced service even during busy hours. With beautiful plating and consistent quality, it has established itself as a destination-worthy spot for Thai food enthusiasts.

First time at Grandma’s Philly Thai and it was a clear 5-star experience. We ordered Grandma’s meatballs, the crispy pork stir-fry with rice, and the Pad Cha Talay spicy seafood. Every dish came out hot, well-seasoned, and balanced – crispy pork with real crunch but still tender inside, rich and flavorful meatballs with just the right amount of sauce, and the seafood stir-fry packed with shrimp, calamari, and fish, all cooked perfectly, not rubbery. Portions were solid and plating actually looked as good as it tasted. Our server, Dominic, ran the whole night smoothly. She knew the menu, gave accurate descriptions of the spice levels, timed everything so the table never felt rushed or waiting, and checked in just enough without hovering. Drinks stayed full, plates were cleared quickly, and he stayed calm and professional even while the place was busy. If you like Thai food with real flavor and competent service, this spot delivers. Dominic and the kitchen both did their jobs at a high level, and I’d come back and order the same dishes again.

Food missed my expectation so probably I won’t come back. I ordered thai pork dumpling and was expecting those steamed blue flower shaped dumplings but they brought out these fried meatballs, and I confirmed with the waiter that this was indeed thai pork dumpling. This is my least favorite dish too, flavor is just off and also a little spicy. The chicken satay is not very moist and the dipping sauce doesn’t have enough peanut flavor imo. The pineapple is okay but it is not served in a pineapple 🙁 This place gets pretty crowded during dinner time I believe.

Grandma’s Philly has been on my list to try forever, and I’m so glad I finally got around to visiting! It’s a great place to get Thai cuisine in an upscale but still relaxed environment.

We sat at the bar and started with a thai espresso martini. It was rich and creamy, but a tad sweet for my liking.

For food, we got the grandma’s meatballs, crispy chives and drunken noodles. The grandma’s meatballs were outstanding – the sauce was very robust (sweet + savory). I used the sauce in conjunction with the other dishes. The crispy chives were fried perfectly and had a lot more flavor than I was expecting. The drunken noodles we got with chicken and spice level 2. The heat was a nice kick without being overpowering, and I enjoyed the wide noodles.

The menu was so expansive, I had a hard time choosing (a good problem). This is now a new favorite restaurant, and I can’t wait to come back and try more.

We had an amazing experience at Grandma Philly’s. The service, atmosphere and drinks were great, but the food was absolutely delicious! Appetizers and entrees. It was a little tight in there, but its such a vibe that you dont care! We will definitely be back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Grandma’s Philly Restaurant is an absolute gem! The food tastes just like something straight from grandma’s kitchen — comforting, flavorful, and made with so much love. Every dish comes out fresh and full of flavor, but the real standouts for me are Grandma’s Meatballs and the Papaya Salad. The meatballs are tender, juicy, and packed with rich, savory flavor — easily one of my favorites. The papaya salad is super refreshing with the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and crunchy — it complements everything so well!

The staff are always warm and friendly, making you feel like part of the family. The space has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the portions are generous for the price.

If you’re craving a hearty, home-style meal that hits the spot every time, Grandma’s Philly is the place to go. I’m already looking forward to coming back for more meatballs and papaya salad!

Back in Philly for work and this was a great find. I just ordered a couple appetizers, the tofu satay and crab rolls (I honestly can’t remember the actual name), and the pandan cocktail. They were slammed on a Wed night so I had high hopes & they delivered. Pretty interior. The bartender was so nice and made my little solo dinner awesome. Food was delicious and I loooved the cocktail. They also have hitachino beer, yum. I definitely told my team all about this place and will def come back next time I’m in Philly.
