Wife and I went to Yesterday ‘s Pub on Saturday 12/20/2025. We were both very pleased with the food, atmosphere and Owners K and David Kittle. Wife had chicken fingers and fries, I had liver and onions with a side salad. Very pleased with with both of our orders. Also split a piece of peanut butter pie between us. Very enjoyable evening. Anyone who likes an evening out without the noise or waiting for your food that’s not correct when you receive it, needs to try Yesterday’s Pub at the corner of 6th and Wilson Street in Newark, Ohio. They are open on Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 9 pm for now. Guarantee you have an enjoyable evening. *****

Great place to eat. Food was amazing. Wonderful mom and pop restaurant. A lot of nostalgia and a working player piano. Very comfortable atmosphere. Time flies because there’s so much you can look at. I can’t wait to go back.

Stumbled upon this unassuming restaurant last week. Have eaten there twice since. Great food, friendly service & nostalgic environment.

What seems like just a little ranch house with white siding is a cover for the blast back in time once you enter the front door. Impressive, massive, beautiful antique bar greets you. Vintage & antique kitschy decor scattered on the walls and bar kept me entertained just looking at every nook and cranny. The dining room with bentwood chairs with red & white checkered tablecloths remind me of the original Buddy ‘s Pizza in Detroit.

Now on to the food- The awesome burger truly is awesome. Cooked perfectly and full of toppings. We were fortunate enough to get the last order of crab cakes & they did not disappoint! HUGE chunks of crab & absolutely delicious. Rueben sandwich had shaved corned beef vs giant thick slices which I loved. Homemade Clam chowder is the best I’ve ever had. You can taste the love it’s made with & I bet it’s a 100 year old recipe it’s that good. Can’t wait to go back and try the French onion soup everyone raves about.

Great local spot. We came with family who had been dying to show us the spot. I loved the atmosphere, its full of art and tchotchkes from the decades it’s been around, red leather booths, stained glass lamp shades, and a table only for chess players. As if the atmosphere wasn’t enough the drinks are tall and stiff, the husband and wife team are delightful, and the menu is full of comforting classics executed very well. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Best little family restaurant in Newark. The staff was attentive, the decorations were great and the food was delicious and tasty. I had the ham and bean soup w cornbread. The beans were seasoned perfectly and had lots of ham. I had the bread pudding w cream sauce. It was amazing, just perfect. I was told it was a 100 year old recipe handed down through the generations. My friends had the pork chops. They were seasoned perfectly. So tender, you can cut it with a table knife. They had the peanut butter pie after dinner. I was told it was the best pie they’ve ever had in their life ❤️
After New Years, they close down for a few months.
I can’t wait for the reopening. I’ll definitely be back. ❤️

Came here for dinner with four coworkers and the service and food was great! We each ordered something different and everything, even dessert, was (or seemed to be) homemade, and was delicious. We called ahead to make reservations, got there a little after 6, took a little time to decide what to order, got our food, plus dessert, and paid by 7:30. Also, I should note that I’m funny about cleanliness, and they seemed very clean. I recommend supporting this local family owed restaurant!

Just tried Yesterday’s Pub for the first time. Great little restaurant! Kay and Dave are wonderful! There’s a lot to take in so add some time to your schedule. Highly recommend the Mudslide cocktail, potato skins appetizer, grilled grouper, and pork chops. We will definitely be back!

Yesterday’s Pub

Decor is vintage, and done very nicely, everything in the pub is old but in good working order, down to the doorknobs to the restrooms, If you are like me all of that real vintage decor will set a mood similar to an earlier time in life when things were good and simple. That’s not to say that this is low grade in any way. Don’t dress like a bum, this ain’t no greasy spoon.

The service is sort of part of the overall experience, the owners are vintage just like the pub, so expect good old fashioned greetings and some nice small talk. Don’t expect or compare this place with a corporate casual dining place or any fast food place, this is not that. Here you get drinks and chat for a while, appetizers come out, maybe another round of drinks and more talk. This is laid back casual dining, nobody is rushing you, and everything is cooked to order and is gonna take a while. This is not a bad thing if you are with friends, order more drinks and continue the conversation.

Prices are reasonable, menus are clear. Specials are written on the blackboard as you come in, or don’t worry, they will go over them again at the table if you missed them.

Bathrooms are clean, well lit, in good working order and vintage as well. It works as part of the charm.

Food is good, appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and meals were all decent size and very tasty. Everything came out good and hot, so well worth the few minutes of extra wait time. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered. The coffee is fresh, yes, they even have whole milk if you want, I know of no other eating place in the Newark/Heath area that does, so I was impressed. They have a full bar and beer menu. This is good home made food, Good job.

Of note is that they seem to have many diabetic customers and cater to them, their sweet tea is made with artificial sweetener and served in carafes on the table. If you prefer real sugar , no worries, sugar and a spoon gets it done.

Overall I enjoyed the dining experience provided and certainly recommend Yesterday’s Pub to anyone who is not in a hurry and has the time to relax and eat casually. They won’t rush you and the atmosphere is very much home style.
