If you want a piece of Texas come on in here. From the decor of antlers, taxidermy, and country music stars on the walls you know it is going to be good. Our server was so sweet and attentive, everyone had a smile and they’re so helpful. If you want some down home cooking, look no further. The kids loved their burgers. I had hamburger steak for 2 days, and it was delicious both days. And a chicken fried steak that was huge. I couldn’t finish my steak after devouring the mountain of fried pickles with my husband. What a fun place to eat that is also comforting. Great for a date, dinner with family or friends.

My husband had told me to try it out with him and I’m glad I did. The Lima beans were great ( usually not a lot of restaurants have Lima beans on their menu) so that was an automatic plus for me. The fish was decent, and the gravy lacked a bit of flavor but overall not bad. The waitress was kind and checked in on us. A pretty good place overall for American food, the menu lacks some options but the taste is pretty good overall. I like the atmosphere the most, it’s very spacious with lots of room for seating.

Sometimes simple is better. There is nothing fancy on this menu, but that’s more than ok. I was simply blown away by the burger I ordered. It was beyond FREAKING huge. I’ve had a lot of burgers in my time, this was by FAR just crazy.
Simple ingredients lots of thick bacon, doorknobs that they cut in half and called mushrooms, just a good old fashioned drippy, sloppy ‘burger’. Don’t get me wrong, I love a craft burger but the simplicity, size and quality shone through here fer sure. A lot of love for food went into making it, you could taste it.

Must have in the San Antonio area. Chicken fried steak is over the top. The beef enchiladas are fantastic! Loved the cream corn and pinto beans!!

Nice mom & pop restaurant in the area in a sea of chain restaurants. Been here many times, first time review. The food, while mainly on the fried varieties, was still delicious. My husband & I can’t say enough about the fried mushrooms. They were huge, came out perfectly battered and so delicious!! i got the “regular” size chicken fried steak with fried okra and mash potatoes. The stead was HUGE! I could barely make it through 1/2 and was stuffed. Husband had the burger and he thought it was a great burger. Service was very fast, no wait, and the waitress was super friendly. The decor was vey western / hunting lodge vibe. Loved it! Would highly recommend.

I was really excited to try this café, but the experience ended up being really disappointing.
When we walked in, the host looked my brother and me up and down and immediately had an attitude. I politely asked if we seat ourselves or if she would take us to a table since it was our first time there, and she cut me off and told us to seat ourselves. Normally that wouldn’t be a big deal, but I later watched her personally walk other groups to their tables then walking past us like she was scared of us. Um? Ok weird.
Our waiter was friendly at first, but her attitude later shifted and she became rude toward my brother. She even forgot his meal entirely, and when it finally came out another waiter basically dropped the plate in front of him without saying anything.
The food itself wasn’t great either. I didn’t even finish my meal, which made it feel like a waste of money.
Honestly, the whole situation made us feel out of place. We noticed most people there were dressed in more country-style attire, and since it was early in the morning we were dressed casually. Regardless, everyone should be treated with the same level of respect. The way we were looked at and treated made it feel like we were being judged or even profiled because we didn’t look like everyone else there. I would not recommend this place to anyone sorry. Do better with customer service

I ordered the burger and it tasted clean and fresh. My friend liked her fried frog legs. The sides of green beans and fried okra were done right, with green beans staying green and okra crunchy outside and tender inside. Pork chops and fried liver and onion were also said to be good. The bathrooms are clean. The lobby has wall mounted antlers, fishes and bobcats.

Good peoples! I always go with the chicken fried steak and chips and queso which are both top tier. I joking wrote on the order to hook it up with extra food and they actually came through. I feel like I hit the lottery with my extra lil enchilada plate!

Appreciate Kamryn at the bar!! (Not sure why they’d have her with tables when she’s taking care of a 9 seat bar top and the entire restaurant’s drinks…….) She was friendly, respectful, an absolute delight even being slammed with a busy Monday holiday lunch crowd! At least ya got the great hire down at this restaurant…… she never wavered or was frazzled but do better by your folks! Food was great and drinks even better. Totally encourage the ones “that we’ll eat at the bar” to stop by. Don’t be intimidated by the parking with lots of cars, they’ve expanded and have the room for you. Too excited about eating the catfish to snap a picture! Antlerita was great just like Ms San Antonio said it would be!
