The original Buddy’s Pizza is in an unsuspecting location but truly delivers on the quality. Incredible crust, chewy but crispy. For those looking for the original, authentic Detroit-style pizza, the Detroiter is the one to get.

Gluten Freedom Adventures
Living with Celiac Disease puts a damper on a good pizza-night… But not at Buddy’s!
Buddy’s gluten free pizza is insanely good. The crust is not cardboard— it is soft and chewy and full of cheesy goodness.
I’ve been to at least 6 different locations in Michigan and have had consistently excellent service and quality with gluten free pizzas.
We typically order ahead for pick-up while passing through on an adventure, and it is always hot and fresh when we get there to pick it up. They are extra careful about cross contamination (gf pizzas cooked in their own foil lined pan) and they don’t cut it ahead of time. If you want it cut (I definitey do when eating on the road!) they will give you a clean pizza cutter to cut it yourself.

This has to be the best Pizza bar in Detroit I ordered two double shots of Woodford reserve & Don Julio reasonable pricing on alcohol pizza was amazing excellent customer service definitely would return the place was amazing The setup phenomenal I was lost when I leftout I was in the whole another world food was A1 we will be returning

This is the original. It’s in a rough looking area, but still well worth the trip. Pics on the walls of all the history in this place. The nostalgia from the decor is thick. Parking is fenced in and a little oddly shaped. This is the best place to get the only Detroit-style pizza.

First time at the original Buddy’s and it was everything you hope. Warm, friendly service, great atmosphere, and great pizza.
We had the original and the spicy Italian. Both pizzas had fantastic crust, but the Spicy Italian was our favorite. It had more flavor than the original, without being really spicy at all. Loved it.

I dont know who has the best Detroit Style Pizza but I know who had the first and I needed to go to the original location. Buddys is legit. One of my top five all time pizzas. Its the crust. Deep dish but not heavy, crispy, flavorful. The spice to the sauce and pepperoni made it that much better. Seriously, get this pizza. My mom had had a burger and said it was awesome too. Televisions everywhere and great service. If I stop back in Detroit I will be back.

Buddy’s pizza It’s Detroit-style, meaning it’s rectangular and baked in a high-sided, greased pan for extra crispy, delicious, buttery crust. We were there this Saturday morning first customers thur the door, since I had 2 other pizza spots I had to hit up that day. we were there when they opened the doors. I ordered half cheese and half The Detroiter witch was recommended by our awesome server I’m happy I did. The sauce goes on top of the (generous) cheese – for my taste there wasn’t quite enough sauce, but judging from how friendly the staff are you could ask for extra without any problems. It’s a must come here at least once if you’re in Detroit…it’s a historic ‘dive’ with a fun ambiance and awesome service and great pizza. Don’t let this area of Detroit chase you away. 100% Recommend!!

After extesively researching where to get the best Detroit pizza we decided to make the trek here. It was AWESOME. I had a favorite spot in CHI, but I think I likes this slightly better. Crust to topping ratio was spor on. We had the special “Michigan State” w/ WI brick cheese, onions, ground beef, fresh spinach and topped off with fresh ricotta – excellent flavor combo on a prefecly crisp crust. I am alread craving another. Service was top notch, fun atmosphere and the MI mule with Vernors and tart cherry was a unique twist. Will be back for sure next time I am in the area.

Visited last Saturday with my sister and we were so pleased. Everything was outstanding. I hadn’t been there in awhile but ordered my same favorite foods since I was a teen. We were not disappointed. The food was good, the atmosphere was relaxing and the service was awesome! I think her name was Mikela. She was patient and professional, such a sweetie! Thank you to the people who prepared the food and the very kind lady who greeted us at the door.
