I didn’t expect to run into such a top notch sushi spot deep in southern Oregon. The fish was fresh and high quality. In the rolls, the chef had an ability to pair ingredients that emphasized texture, all the while working in excellent flavors. The darru and surf and turf rolls were a highlight. The sea urchin roll was out-of-this-world, like a bite of delicious ocean. Starting with the wagyu sliders was a great contrast to the cold sushi dishes. Fatty beef, seared, with salty seasoning and pickles. Excellent!
The service was struggling the night we went. They held us up at the bar 20 minutes past our reservation time. They only seated us because we gave up on waiting for an outdoor table. It then took 20 minutes to meet the server and order, and another 45 minutes to start eating. Ultimately the food exceeded the flaccid service. I will be back, but not on a night when I’m in a hurry.

It was good but should be for 80 bucks a person…I recommend the king salmon from new Zealand and the black snapper both were excellent…I didn’t like the roll we ordered…yes portions are small but it’s downtown Ashland.

I’ve been going to Kobe for over 10 years. Nicole has always done an amazing job with the place.
Keenan behind the sushi bar is a game changer best sushi I’ve had in years, every roll was amazing. We got the Black dragon, Yakuza Jalapeño, crunchy cheese, and sunshine. Alyssa was our server and she was very professional and sweet, checking on us often and making sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 always for Kobe, love you guys<3

Very awesome experience. Sushi was spot on, service was great. Sapporo beer on tap was fresh and clear. Wasabi was the real deal.

The fish is good quality, but a little overpriced. The peach appetizer was expensive and had too much vinegar, making it too sour. The portion sizes are small, so you might still feel hungry. The service was good, and the environment is relaxing, especially with the creek nearby.

Everything was excellent!
My husband and I usually get one roll each. This night we tried the Kobe Sliders – oh so good! Japanese Fried Chicken – perfect! The Northwest roll for him. And I had the Sky Diver roll, which was amazing!
The Northwest has tiny bits of lemon so I would recommend trying it after cleansing your palate first and then after if you are sharing rolls.
We sat outside (reservations recommended on weekends) and it was very pleasant. Looks like you can sit out there most of the year.
Please hit the “thumbs-up” if this post was helpful.

Great little gem in downtown Ashland. Had some great oysters and even better sushi. Just went with rolls this time and drinks. Enjoyed the freshness of everything and will be somewhere I return when in the area again. Plus can walk around the downtown after and enjoy what Ashland has to offer. The trio of brûlée was the only item I would say that didn’t live up to the entire meal. Was just okay, wouldn’t order that again. But hey it’s a sushi spot so….

We travel from the Bay Area for the surf and turf roll!! It’s amazing. The cocktails are also a highlight every time that we go. Wait staff is so friendly and wonderful. This place is absolutely amazing!

Delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service. The seaweed salad was the best I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared.

A nice restaurant for dates or groups. When it’s not cold out it’s nice to sit outside near the creek. I think this is the only or one of two Japanese restaurants in Ashland, the rest are really just facsimiles. This restaurant definitely has its own vision for the food, which is great as far as the originality is concerned. Although that means you miss out on some of the traditional Japanese restaurant items like Gyoza or soups. The food that is available is great and they have a good handle on what is fresh fish. I would hope the management does more in the future to detail where their fish comes from and utilizes more responsible sources.
