Hopothecary Ales & Brewery was the venue for our wedding reception this past fall, and despite this being the very first wedding they ever hosted, the experience was nothing short of incredible!! So many of our guests commented that they never would have guessed this was their first wedding!

A huge part of that is thanks to Morty and Jim, who truly went above and beyond. Morty was our main point of contact and made sure every detail was executed exactly how we wanted. He met with us during off-hours to mock up the space together so we could visualize how the night would flow. As a very type-A planner, I appreciated how carefully he followed the detailed plans I provided. On the night of the wedding, Morty seamlessly managed the Hopothecary team, keeping everything moving behind the scenes so we could just enjoy the evening.
Working with Jim to create the menu for the evening was such a treat! He somehow took a short list of foods we liked and meals we ate often and curated a multi-course menu with multiple options that satisfied us and the dietary restrictions of the guests.

Honestly, the food was a standout highlight of the night. From the passed appetizers and charcuterie station, which was both beautiful and delicious, to the buffet-style dinner with a meat carving station, every bite was incredible. We lost count of how many guests told us it was “the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding.” The late-night snacks were a huge hit with the crowd that kept the party going.

We also cannot say enough about the waitstaff and kitchen team. They were professional, attentive, and completely on top of everything, from clearing empty glasses to passing cake and making sure all guests (yes, even those crazy wedding guests at the end of the night) were taken care of. Their energy and efficiency added so much to the overall experience.

In addition to the staff getting 5-star reviews from us, the space itself deserves a 5-star rating. The space allowed us to blend the laid-back charm of a brewery with the refined elegance of a formal wedding reception. We wanted to treat our large number of guests (~170) to an intimate party in a space that felt like us. As two chemists who love beer and breweries, Hopothecary was the perfect choice. Guests were comfortably seated through the dining room and also enjoyed the ability to hang out on the patio (yay for good weather!). The taproom transformed during the night from a mingling space during cocktail hour, to the buffet serving station during dinner, and finally to the dance floor. It felt like we were partying in our old college days, exactly the vibe we wanted!

The entire night was SO perfect, and we cannot thank the Hopothecary team enough for making our wedding reception unforgettable!

Stopped in after a Trip to Middletown Massachusetts. Great hidden gem. Service was outstanding as well as the food. Brisket nachos are a must along with the brussel sprout and cauliflower appetizer. On Sundsy during the afternoon football game appetizers are half off.

The Beers are outstanding and changing depending on the season . I had a Aphrodisiac Pastry Stout along with a pumpkin Beer.

The Bertender Kelsey was beyond helpful and always had a smile on her face which is so rare to see today.

Definitely worth a visit even if you are 30 minutes away from here.

Can’t beat the great customer service, awesome beer sele tion and amazing food.

Will definitely make this a regular atop of mine wheb I’m in the area !

More than just a brewery.
A beautiful, spacious building with plenty of parking. The inside is modern and yet rustic. Two different bar areas and plenty of tables. I notice some games and arcades but i didn’t get a chance to see what they were. The beers that I tried were delicious. I had a Mediterranean wrap that wasn’t anything special. I’d love to come back and try something else off the menu which is pretty large for a brewery.

Hopothecary Ales is a gem as they absolutely deliver.

From a warm welcoming, to a pleasant atmosphere, this place hits each mark with an absolute knockout.

Our bartender Ted was a delight. Friendly and super on top of things with an amazing attention to detail.

I tried 6 delicious tasters. The Griffin beer was one of my favorites.

They also have lunch specials with half off pizza. Let me tell you, the Buffalo chicken pizza might just be the best version of that pie I have ever had. It’s just so balanced without any individual ingredient overwhelming one another.

The line between Pub and brewery is perfect, as you’re sure to find something on the menu that will tickle your fancy regardless of whether or not you are a big beer drinker.

5 stars is not enough to express how much I enjoyed my experience and I cannot wait to return!

Had a pretty good experience here! Great vibe and open pretty late into the night (unlike other places in the area).
Took a smokey bbq chicken brisket and devoured it. For beer, got the king’s secret serum (cream ale) and enjoyed it as well!
On a second visit, took the street corn pizza and liked it very much! The dressing (mayo+cilantro+lime) was very tasty! Garlic knots were nice but a little oily. Their wheat beer (w/ notes of banana) is just amazing!

I was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. You don’t really know what your going to get with pub food. The food was very good and not greasy. Definitely brewery atmosphere, which is exactly what you’d expect. They have beer flights. Also, they have a fun dessert, injectable fried dough! Our server was pleasant and did not rush us. Thank you, Vanessa. Only feedback is in some areas some of the tables could be better spaced to avoid bumping into each other. Overall, worth checking out.

My experience here was awful service. That is what sticks out most from my visit. In an establishment that was barely busy, the attention to customers was horrible. On top of that 90% of the staff never even cracked a smile. The manager was dressed in a Coors Beer tee shirt in an establishment that makes their own brand beer. The window blinds near the inside table were riddled with dust and beer splashes. The patio tables were filthy. They had food and beer stains that looked days or weeks old. The food was okay; not great. The tray they serve food on is gross. They cover it with paper but the tray itself could use a washing. An SOS pad would make them shine. Every window of every door was filthy. The bathroom door was covered with what looks like it’s from maybe kitchen staff using the bathroom. I attached a picture. The camera flash makes it look like white paint but it was more like buildup of grime. This place has potential but needs better customer service, staff and someone to clean it. The only positive comment I have is the beer is good.

Weeknight visit, the place was dynamic but not over crowded. We tried the Maranta, Fest Med, Hang Time, Elixir, Gold Standard, Hop Transplant II, Aphrodisiac, Essence of Autumn and Guard’s Gallipot. All were excellent.

I liked all the NE IPAs, which are usually my favorites. But I really liked the Aphrodisiac (chocalatey stout) even though I’m not normally a malty fan. Also enjoyed the Fest Med too.

Great food as well. My wife raved about the Hippie Burger and the brisket sandwich was really tasty.

The menu is 1,000,000 times improved. The variety and plant based options is excellent. It was actually quite delicious. We had the power bill and the veggie burger. Beer was nice too. I love the decor. The only criticism is they NEED to dust their blinds, lighting fixtures and feature wall. This was my 4th visit first time I really wanted to pull out my duster while I was sitting at the high top by the window .
