To celebrate a birthday we stopped at this local sushi place around 2:00 pm on a Saturday. It’s small with just tables and chairs but cozy and the staff was quick to serve us. Everything tasted great…. salmon bowl, baked salmon roll, monster roll and appetizers. They even played a happy birthday song and everyone in the restaurant sang to the birthday girl. This is a place we’ll visit again when looking for some sushi.

I arrived a bit after 5 on a Tuesday night and was the only person in the restaurant. I ordered the spicy tuna hand roll and the F6 fire cracker roll. The fish was fresh and tasty by the time I finished my food the place was full to capacity.

Came on a busy day with a large party, but instead of combining a couple tables they seated a smaller party that cut in front of us instead of telling them we were already waiting. We ended up leaving. My family who is from another country felt discriminated against.

So glad I found this place! The hubby and I used to drive all the way to Fullerton for good ramen and sushi. Happy to have a found a place nearby. Happy hour is great, rolls are delish and spicy ramen was in fact spicy. Super clean restaurant too. Can’t wait to come back!

I’m wary of most Southern California shopping mall sushi restaurants, but Joy Sushi in Whittier is the exception. No, it’s not fancy, but everything is made fresh, served quickly and delicious.

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s a really great place that has always felt very welcoming. It’s a casual spot, but definitely deserves 5 stars. I always come here for the sushi and sashimi but indulge in some baked rolls or the Red Rock Roll every once in a while. Their Salmon Skin Handroll is pretty good too.

This place is an awesome Japanese restaurant! The sashimi is always fresh and the service has always been excellent! Jason, the owner, is a friendly guy and knows how to treat his frequent customers well. My favorite is Bora-Bora sashimi — spicy but very tasty! They also have a variety of salads, Bento plates, udon noodles, etc. The sake selection is great and they also have wine, Japanese beer like Sapporo, yummy dessert like the mochi ice cream. All in all, Joy sushi is by far, the best sushi/sashimi place I’ve ever been to! Highly recommended and a must try sushi place if you’re in Whittier area!!
