I’ve been a customer for over 30 plus years. Loved going here since I was young. Best homemade Blue cheese dressing anywhere.
However it has changed. Prices are too high for this type of restaurant in this area. Atmosphere is not the same. Digital menus and other unnecessary upgrades have driven cost up. It was always busy because it was a great value and cost for a whole family. It was balanced. Its current pricing structure is not balanced and it cannot compete against other restaurants at this price point. Business looks slow every time I’m in. Sad.
This was a great place for the communities they served. Trying to compete with other restaurants at this price does not seem like it’s going to work out.
Hopefully the owners, Look to the foundation of what this restaurant was built as, a value family steak house for all income levels and families.
To lower prices and still make profit, Perhaps keeping up volume at lower prices, better special’s , so you can get better pricing on meat and supplies by buying more, better training and scheduling for labor to lower costs, go back to regular signage instead of digital and many other possibilities.
I hope the new owners watch current trends and notice more restaurants returning to their roots to attract customers again.

Took my grandson to buy clothes for his 17 birthday, we stopped here for lunch. I mapped for a restaurant and saw this place. Surprised I never noticed it, so glad I did! He got the super cheeseburger, I got the green chili pattymelt and onion rings, so delicious! It was actually 2 meals for me, had half for dinner later! And pumpkin pie! I will return to try the ribs, and steak, often!

Sundowners isn’t what it use to be. I’ve been coming here for YEARS. To both the Fontana and San Bernardino locations. I’ve always ordered the same plate. A medium rare steak with a baked potato and shrimp. With a bowl of clam chowder and unsweet ice tea.. only to come in today, the tea was disgusting, lid was left open. And the steak had shrunk double in size. It was tiny, hard, and burnt! (If yall remember the old Sundowner steaks) The clam chowder was still good, just a little salty. But, unfortunately, I will not be returning to this place anytime soon. Not sure how long this place will last with such high prices and terrible cheap food. You don’t even get a refill on soup at least.. just terrible for experience.. they don’t care about their customers, or the food would be better…

Let me start by saying that I wanted to love this place. I ordered a hamburger and onion rings that also came with a side salad. The onion rings were extra greasy where the oil was like it had not been changed in awhile or the onion rings had been refried. Either way, I could not eat them. The hamburgers meat appeared to be lower-quality meat. It had a different texture and look to it…fortunately, it had so much sauce that you couldn’t taste the meat. Unfortunately, after a couple of bites into the burger, I had to stop eating it. The salad was cold and crispy and the only thing I could eat fully. In conclusion, I left hungry with $20 less in my pocket.

I haven’t been here in years. Something definitely has changed and not for the better. The people that work there are absolutely amazing. The food not so much. I was looking forward to that fresh pot pie. Not so fresh they gave me a banquet frozen pot pie I could have microwaved at home it wasn’t even hot. The mash potatoes are boxed and tasted like it. My son said his meatloaf tasted like a TV dinner. So disappointing. Only thing good about this place anymore is the service. Definitely would not recommend going here to anyone unless you like overpriced TV dinners.

We had our Christmas dinner there and all staff were very nice. Manager made sure everything was clean and ready before we got there.
Their prices are affordable and food is delicious, I totally recommend the Porter steak, I loved it
