Everyone has to eat and when something tastes really good, people remember that. But great restaurants don’t happen by accident, especially in a city like San Antonio, where there are thousands of restaurants competing for your hunger.

If you’ve been looking for that one restaurant where you feel like you wish you had found this place sooner, then let me tell you right now, you need to eat at Taqueria La Perla de Jalisco.

For example, I’ve always noticed how the staff interacts with regulars but here they’ll make you feel like you’ve been going for decades. Right away you’ll be greeted with smiles that make you feel like you were missed.

I’ve eaten at restaurants all over San Antonio and many look busy but this place is the good busy. People eating, laughing, music in the kitchen, hot food on hot plates coming out of the kitchen. This is a restaurant that focuses on what really matters: making delicious food and taking care of the people who walk through the door. Throughout the meal, the staff checked in at just the right moments. Not hovering, not disappearing, just attentive enough to make sure everything was perfect.

The Carne Tampiqueña plate was the first thing I tasted here, and wow! Absolutely packed with flavor. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked in a way that makes you pause for a second after the first bite because it’s just soooooo good!!! Everything tastes so good that you’ll catch yourself nodding your head over and over.

And as we rode home, we all said the same thing: “We’re definitely coming back.” And we have, over and over and over.

If you’re in San Antonio and you love delicious food, give yourself and your family the gift of eating at Taqueria La Perla de Jalisco. Believe me, before you even leave, you’ll feel like you’ve found your favorite restaurant.

Great Mexican restaurant to host small parties and get togethers! It’s pretty spacious and nice, the aesthetic is rather pleasing and the food is a solid 8/10!

The service was really nice and we had a kind waitress who waited on us. The restaurant itself was rather clean and well maintained/organized so that was great!

I recommend the enchilada plate here as it is one of my favorites Mexican plates!

Their tacos are also good, especially when you toast the tortillas like I did down below!

9/10 great Mexican restaurant to try!

If I could give zero stars for service, I would me and the car in front of us were there since 6 o’clock they’re supposed to open at six. They didn’t take our order till 615 and when I asked the lady at the window hey what time do y’all open? She goes 6 o’clock or whatever time to cook gets here with a smirk on her face, like that’s really horrible customer service. the foods half the time is cold when I come for lunch. I don’t even know why I came for breakfast this time. I figured it’d be better. They have their purses on top of the counters. I don’t see how this is sanitary for food. I could see this from the drive-through window. Eat at your own risk.

Just like moms cooking this place makes me feel like my mom came back to life and cooked for me once again. Had a great experience here. Gf and I came here for a late night cinco De mayo dinner since we both worked late. This place definitely did not disappoint, will be back again!

I ordered 3 crispy tacos, they were terrible soggy, so much water in there, they fell apart meat was dry and no taste at all.very ugly has lots of salt, lettuce and tomatoes had foul odor like sour & old, possible from yesterday… after tasting first tacos, I did not eat the rest, got sick to my stomach… I’m so overall food was disgusting will not go there ever again and will let my friends and family know food is terrible!!!

Amazing cafe de olla coffee. I ordered the huevos rancheros and they were 10/10. The sauce was mildly spicy which is perfect for me. Rosalba was our server and she was great. She checked on us often and great service. Will come back again.

Puffy tacos were delicious, enchiladas would have been awesome with American cheese instead of cheddar cheese. The eat was seasoned very well. Margarita our sever was very friendly and she brought food out quickly.

SERVICE
Service is great, both busboy and the waitress were extremely attentive throughout the restaurant.
FOOD
Food is great, all fresh. Tortillas are freshly made and fluffy it probably is the best I had in this area or most of SA I have been to.
PRICES
Prices are within the range of independently run Mexican restaurants around the area. Almost identical to any other place I have been.
ATMOSPHERE
There was live music while we were there, an older gentleman playing mariachi and singing. The restaurant and the tables were decently clean.

I would recommend this place over most of the restaurants around the area.

My favorite place to stop when travelling through San Antonio. This place literally got me through the Covid era as they would stay open even when so many other places closed up. My favorite meal is to stop by for breakfast for the steak and eggs but they have great dishes for every meal. The gorditas are to die for as the ha’oles say. After a long day at work I like to stop by for a Margherita.

Excellent overall experience, the food was fantastic and there was something for everyone on the menu. While the decor may be dated, the friendly and attentive staff more than makes up for it. Make sure to try all the Salsa… There is a heat level for everyone and it complements the food perfectly.
