Good to see Steak ‘n Shake hanging in there and reopening this location. Went here to try the tallow fries. Everything was pretty good, not as many combo deals as there used to be. The buns on the burgers were also cold.

Not in regards to this joint in particular but the whole chain: The new chicken tender recipe is disgusting! I miss the way they use to cook it with the seed oils. I was looking forward to coming here cause theyve closed all the ones in the Pittsburgh region and this location is close, and was immensely disappointed
The milkshakes were delicious and fries were still good as they always were. Left with a stomach ache and disappointment.
This location though was nice. We were greeted when we got in, used one of 4 kiosks and ordered our food. Their ordering system is tedious tho i will say. Food got out quick. Bathrooms clean. Some booths couldve been cleaner to be honest.
Everyone was nice. Just I unfortunately wont be returning unless they change the tenders back to how they use to be.
Its also way more expensive! $30 for 2 people is crazy. But i guess inflation and the way the world is anymore.. just sad for fast food when I can sit down and dine somewhere nicer for 2 for that

The double cheeseburger was made correctly and looked very tasty. I tried a couple of fries right after receiving my order; although lukewarm, they tasted delicious. Unfortunately, the meat and fries were oversalted. The Butterfinger shake hit the spot – definitely needed the big straw. I placed an order through the app and waited over 25 mins. The inside looked clean, well-stocked, and well-maintained.

Kiosk an credit card only purchases ZERO customer service. No service staff order and serve yourself. That burger in my photo with the fries is a triple… A triple mouse burger… No meat on that thing. Fries are tasty. Expensive for self serve. This is a Trainwreck of what Steak N Shake once was. Sad.

everything was TERRIBLE. my receipt printed al white. so I asked for the receipt I was told I can’t get one so that I could see how I was charged. The attitude I was given “well we can’t do anything no refund no receipt no nothing”
then I’m almost done with my food and the guy who claimed to be the manager goes “do you need a box?” the person I was with vouched for me and was like “she’s literally done”.
I asked for silverware as well when another female employee came out with a terrible attitude said NOTHING and just POINTS.

so I finally snapped and was like listen I asked for silverware not attitude” this was my FIRST TIME IN THIS PLACE.
so then I get up to get my tray and everything cleaned up I go over to get a napkin and that same girl is giving me dirty looks.
be so serious. I want my money back and I will absolutely NEVER return to this disgusting. dirty. terrible employed place.

Food was overly salty.and our onion rings were cold. It took 20 minutes for a milkshake then I was scolded by the greeter because I grabbed the wrong cup to take my milkshake home in…… Ma’am I wasn’t trained on proper procedures here I’m just a customer! Lol

We just went on a Friday night during dinner time but on the later end. We waited over 50 minutes for our food and over 25 minutes for milkshakes that I had ordered separately to go before we got our food so we wouldn’t have to wait longer. We weren’t given them until I noticed they had gone past our order number and asked. They magically appeared but were melted. Dinner food was good, but we won’t come here again after that long of a wait for essentially fast food. With the kiosks there’s also no real manager or staff you can ask for where you are in the queue or if they’ve forgotten your ranch dip. Then you end up waiting at the counter trying to ask for 5 more minutes. I rarely will write negative reviews, but this experience warranted one unfortunately.

There’s a lady named Thelma that works there. She greeted us as soon as we were opening the door and just treated us like we were her family the entire time we were there. She’s pretty amazing and hope everyone can have an experience with her. She even has her own table in there. God bless people like her. The food was also excellent. The drink fountain is weird now. You have to scan a piece of paper to activate the drinks to dispense. I highly recommend you guys going and meeting Thelma!

I experienced a series of service and quality failures during a recent visit. Despite the app claiming the order was ready, I waited over 10 minutes past the completion time. Staff behavior was unprofessional; after being told the order was being bagged, I was ignored and later met with a mumbled, rude remark about sitting down to wait.
The food quality was equally disappointing. Despite living nearby the order arrived home at poor temperatures. Both the sandwich and burger lacked all standard condiments and toppings, appearing as “bread and meat” rather than the advertised recipe. I criticize the mobile app’s “sneaky” interface, which I see defaults to a bare-bones “build your own” style that results in false advertising compared to menu photos.
This marks my final breaking point as a long-term customer, please note there has been a significant decline in standards since July 2025. I’m citing poor training—specifically regarding a poorly made Frisco melt—staff dishonesty about order status, and a lack of basic courtesy. I will not return, because I prefer the consistency of frozen White Castle sliders over this location’s “downhill” performance.

Just recently visited the Boardman location. I ordered 2 hamburgers and 2 fries, it was 12 dollars.the smash burgers they usually use were not used this time. They tasted like Wendy’s burgers . If I want Wendy’s I’ll go to Wendy’s. When I took the top bun off to put some more ketchup on it, it even looked like Wendy’s. This is steak and shake.not Wendy’s. The sign out front said locally owned and operated, we’ll I hope they know this is going on. And if you do, shame on you. Very upsetting, but everybodys doing it. You need to change it fast! Before you lose your business.
