Such nice people and the food is amazing. My husband and I got the country fried steak (and mine were fingers). Huge portion and oh so delicious. Creamy macaroni and peppery mashed potatoes. The Texas toast was buttered and everything was just great. Will definitely be back.

Y’all come check on me later. I may have died and gone to heaven. If you’re ever in the New Braunfels area you definitely need to come check out Freiheit Country Store. Possibly the best chicken fried steak with mac n cheese I’ve ever had in my life. Everything had a taste like it was homemade. And that you can’t get out of a can. Only thing better than the food is the service. Thank you Makana you’re the best. No question in my mind I will be back.

Me and my mom always wanted to eat at this place but we always had other options already picked out but today we decided to hit the bucket and dine here! I got the queso burger with tater tots while my mom got the BLT with fries. We shared the egg rolls. We both liked it here and would come again. The customer service was amazing and quite fast. It is tempting to call this place a hidden gem but when you arrive to an impossible hunt for parking and hear a concert in the distance you think that the gem must not be all that hidden. Perhaps I was just the last to know. If they offered an orientation session before your visit, that would be helpful for navigation. I followed a sign to the restaurant side but if it weren’t for a sign on the door that said “Yes, in here” I never would’ve thought that this plain steel door was an entry. Once you’re inside, don’t worry, it’s just as confusing. There’s a series of pieced-together additions – all of which are as old as sin – that can take you to some sketchy bathrooms, a quaint ice cream parlor, various dining spaces, or if you’re watching really closely, the hostess stand. But once I found that hostess stand, I was welcomed like they knew I was coming and the service held strong to the end. I ordered Vic’s Famous Freiheit Extreme named after their longtime security guard and “pappy.” I got to meet Vic and he’s like a well-loved celebrity walking around this place. If George Strait would’ve walked in I don’t know that he would’ve gotten as much attention as Vic. And his namesake burger is the favorite for a reason. All of the Freiheit burgers come on a delicious Hawaiian bun with a seasoned-to-perfection half-pound patty. Vic’s burger comes with bacon, cheese, grilled onion, grilled mushrooms, jalapeños (86 for me because #spicywimp), and dressed all the way. The first bite into this burger was delightful. It comes together very well. It looks large but as long as you’ve got a big mouth you’re good. My only critique would be that the patty is cooked (per the menu) to medium well. Cooking that patty to medium would take this burger to new levels of seduction. It still gets an A for flavor. I’ll have to go again to figure out the concert side. So much to explore, so little time. Cheers to Freiheit Country Store for honoring their security guard with a delicious burger creation!

Best dining experience I’ve had in YEARS!! This place is quite literally one of the gems of New Braunfels!! The food, atmosphere and service were all 10 out of 10!! Our server Kate today was so sweet & definitely made us feel right at home! Can’t wait to come back!

Waitress was super nice. We ordered burgers. Requested our burgers to be cooked medium and medium rare. First time we got the burgers they were all way over done. They said they would fix them. Manager was apologetic and said he would comp the burgers. Got our burgers a second time. They were still not made right but we just ate what we could. We got our check and still showed a charge for their fix on the burgers. We don’t like to make a big deal out of orders being done wrong but don’t say we will be comped and still charge us. With how high prices have changed, all we ask is just focus on serving better food. What we got for 53 dollars was too much for the quality of food.

This was my first visit to Freiheit and it definitely won’t be my last! I met friends at the bar on a late Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was fun and engaging.
The burgers were suggested by a friend and were first-rate, dripping with flavor!

My husband and I were staying in the area with many options but this one stood out in photos so we determined that it would be the most unique experience in the area. The onion rings were excellent!! Some of the best onion rings I have ever had, NOT greasy or cheap. The burgers were good and I liked the bun. It seamed as though they use “real” ingredients. They also had Blue Bell ice cream which if you are from Texas, IYKYK. But if you aren’t from Texas (like me) and you haven’t tried Blue Bell, it is time!!
All of the serving staff seamed down to earth and friendly. I noticed they also know some people by name which shows that they have commited customers. This speaks volumes because no one would return to a poor experience or a bad burger.
The atmosphere was very cool and “historic” type feel and vibes.
As for the “country store”. I did not understand. I was expecting it to be partially like a Cracker Barrel but only saw some tshirts and sweatshirts for sale. Someone correct me if I am wrong. But shopping can be done anywhere near by instead, so just get over there for the food!!
