I finally tried my little hometowns 1st Jamaican restaurant and it exceeded my expectations! I was wowed by the Jamaican decor, ambiance, and greetings by the owner. I had the chicken combo with rice and peas, mac and cheese, and added a side of plantains. Washed it down with a ginger beer (non-alcoholic beverage). My mom had the oxtails with the same sides. She also had a grapefruit soda which she says was great and refreshing. I liked how paying with cash offers a discount. I also like that the parking is great! Some Jamaican restaurants I’ve dined at have not had the best parking lol. Please support this local business…you won’t be disappointed!

This was THE BEST Jamaican food I’ve had. Customer service from Jasmine was good. She answered questions I had over the phone and helped me place another order when I arrived lol! We ordered the oxtail plate, curry chicken plate, jerk wings and a beef patty. I’d been craving oxtail for days and there aren’t any good Jamaican restaurants in the area that I live. Best oxtail everrrr. And the portions are HUGE! Food was hot, fresh, and did I mention the best everrrr? My mom loves Jamaican food as well and said it was reaaally good. I live about an hour and a half away but was in the area. And I DEFINITELY will be back.

Amazing experience! Food was a taste from the island. Very fresh and made when ordered. Large portions of food. Very rich in flavor and the atmosphere is beautiful! The vibe and music makes you feel like you in Jamaica. The owner and staff are very welcoming and professional. Definitely worth the trip.

Curry goat is excellent. Not hot, very good.
We got the mild jerk chicken but was still too hot for some. Not too hot unless you just don’t eat hot food… Very good, heat and issue.

Stewed chicken brown , very good , not hot. Different spices than anything I have ever had. Good, very mild.

Everything tender and sauce.
Yellow rice good.
Mac cheese good.

Pineapple ginger soda very good and complimented food.

Owner very nice gave us different food because jerk chicken (pic) too spicy.

Clean
Good atmosphere / music.
Relaxed
Recommend going…
Good portions.

Expect to spend $40 per couple plus drinks

I am sorry but a 5 star review rating for this establishment is a far stretch. Jamaican food is one of my favorite cuisines. I have visited various places across the US and in Jamaica. This was one of my least favorite experiences. I tried JamRock’s food truck yesterday for the first time at a food festival in South Charlotte. I was excited to check them out based upon the excellent reviews. I ordered the jerk chicken, cabbage, and rice and peas. The cabbage was omitted from our order so I can’t critique it. While the rice and peas was not bad, the jerk chicken was not good at all. It was dry, overcooked and the jerk sauce lacked the island flavor to which I have been accustomed. I don’t like wasting food or money but unfortunately had to throw the plate away. I was hesitant to write a review considering that this is a small business; but felt it necessary for others who may be basing their expectations on the high ratings that are reflected in the current comments.

The food was amazing. I drove from Ballantyne to give it a shot. We had the oxtail and jerk chicken, both so good. We were able to try the brown stew, curry chicken and Rasta pasta, it was all amazing. Thank you for such a wonderful lunch experience. I will be back.

The food is unbelievable and the owner is awesome! I went here for lunch a couple days ago with a friend and immediately was greeted by the owner and offered a complimentary soup (which was delicious). My friend and I then decided to sit down and eat our food in the restaurant because of the atmosphere inside. I was also told of many big events that they are hosting in the near future and will likely attend. Can’t go wrong heading over to this place for lunch or dinner… worst case scenario you get some delicious food for an amazing price!
