Introducing our new venture Kalabash Afro Caribbean Cuisine by the owners of Le Vele. We are striving to create a new experience that focusses on both the Caribbean and the Motherland with mouth watering dishes that will satisfy every palate. Whether it’s fresh catch of the day or a Caribbean Cayman Style Beef to a Swahili Fish stew or a Zimbabwean peanut chicken dish, we have something for everyone. Don’t worry we still have out complete pizza menu from our traditional pizza oven. with classics like Prosciutto Crudo to an oxtail pizza. You can also enjoy the beautiful scenery from our upstairs terrace overlooking the ocean. Sunsets are amazing from this vantage point. There is something for everyone at Kalabash by Le Vele.

First, bring your patience. If you only have an hour before the boat gets going, then perhaps not the place to come to. But with that caveat out of the way, let’s begin. Fairly close walk from the cruise port, the restaurant is on the second floor. Choice is yours for patio or not. The view is pretty nice, but if it’s hot, head inside.
The menu has many options, including pizza. Everything is priced in CI, so be aware of that. I went with a local beer, that was pretty good, the Vele house salad, and the lobster pizza.
The salad was nice and fairly lite. The surprise was the Peruvian Peppers. Really great flavor and went well with the salad.
The pizza was equally nice, seafood was cooked well, crust nice and thin. I like this place. It’s family run with a chef in back and another person up front spinning the pizzas with oven right there in the dining room. Again, the patio views are really nice, you can see the ship and gorgeous waters.

This place took us with suprise! We were the only guests for lunch and that made us a little bit worried and suprised. But Wow! Excellent genuine pasta dishes, pizza with very good crust and tasty vegetarian dish. The sauses were mild but smooth and very creamy. Also great view over the ocean and all the boats. The staff were happy and very welcoming.

this restaurant is a treasure! we were delighted to sit out on the patio, watching the boats go by as we enjoyed our pizza (made completely from scratch) as well as a lasagna (fresh homemade pasta and other ingredients from scratch). our server was fun and friendly, catering to our dietary needs and also offering their homemade chili oil to spice up our delicious meal. If i could eat here every day, i absolutely would. you could truly taste the homemade ingredients in each meal!

A wonderful and quaint place found approximately a quarter mile after stepping off our cruise ship. The caprice salad with the additional avocado was amazing with two wonderful glasses of Pinot Grigio really set the beautiful atmosphere looking over the Caribbean Sea. Anyone on their last leg of their cruise would appreciate this calm, mellow and inviting place sitting upstairs look across at their ship. Loved this place! Too bad I didn’t take a picture of the beautiful presentation of the Caprice salad that I was served. Hope you cruisers find this wonderful gem.

We came to this place based on the reviews and SO GLAD we did! It felt like a local place and not as touristy. The food was incredible and the service was great. The views at sunset were beautiful. Would absolutely recommend coming here and will absolutely return on our next visit.

Out of this world! The views are amazing, the food is super tasty and the people are awesome! Perfect place to go if you want to try something new; ask for ugali and tilapia, or their famous oven-baked pizza.
