Very disappointed since I’ve been coming here for almost two years. This type of meat/bone should not be in food.
Otherwise service is great and everyone is always so sweet.
Not much crackle on the 2nd visit but still very yummy. I will be a returning customer again and again at this stage.
A great price too if you eat in or pick up! P.s. the bao bun is perfect… so fluffy and yummy!
Came here as a group of 3, and ordered their bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup) x 2, crispy pork vermicelli, chả giò (Vietnamese spring rolls), bạc xỉu (Saigon style coffee) and cà phê sữa dá (Vietnamese iced coffee).
Their bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup) was decent, however, it lacked lemongrass and shrimp paste flavour. As we ordered too BBH, the sate chilli sauce was not consistent, one bowl had little sate while the other bowl had a lot of sate. Which worked out anyways because one of the group member couldn’t handle the spice tolerant anyways.
Normally BBH has a very flavourful spicy lemongrass and shrimp paste flavour making it a balanced spicy beef noodle. The portion was good and price was decent. It just lacked that lemongrass flavour and could use shrimp paste to the broth.
The crispy pork vermicelli was good. The chả giò (Vietnamese spring rolls) could improve. It was a bit sweeter than usual Vietnamese spring rolls, and the interior inside was a bit too wet due to the onion. Flavour was still good though even though it was sweet.
The coffees were decent as well. Was too sweet to my liking as they used a lot of condensed milk but it was still good. The coffee bean profile was lacking that robust flavour in traditional Vietnamese coffees. The grounded coffee beans also seeped through the phin filter too quick (usually it should drip really slow), making the coffee lacking that Vietnamese coffee flavour.
Overall, food was decent for the price in the area.
Recently, the food has taken an unreasonably long time to come out, and the staff often appear frustrated or argumentative, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for customers. Communication has also become an issue, as it is sometimes very difficult to place orders due to language barriers.
Most importantly, the food quality is no longer what it used to be. The flavours and marinades have clearly changed, and unfortunately, not for the better. Whether this means changing the chef or revisiting the original recipes, something needs to be addressed urgently.
I truly hope Homese takes this feedback seriously and returns to the standard that made it so popular in the first place.
