This is one of my daughters, absolute favorite restaurants in Frostburg. We have eaten here many times and love the food and love the service.
After walking down the hallway, you will see the bar on the left. Further down is the main restaurant which is in two sections. Plenty of room and you don’t feel cramped.
Standard Mexican fare. Upon sitting down, you are provided with chips and salsa. As we always do, we get the queso. Great to dip your chips in. For lunch, we had the taco salad (my daughter’s favorite) and the lunch portion of beef fajitas. The taco salad bowl is a deep-fried fajita, which is edible! I have been here many times, this was the first time I tried the flan. It was excellent.
The service is always excellent here. Our waitress is very friendly and always checking in to make sure what we need.
The prices are reasonable and less than most Mexican restaurant I go to. The best part is, I think the food is better.
So if you’re in the area, stop on by and try out the food. You won’t regret it.

Amazing food, great drinks, friendly staff, and all at affordable prices. Who doesn’t love authentic Mexican cuisine? I cannot recommend it enough. If you’re doing the Western Maryland Railway? This is about a block away from where the free shuttle drops you. Don’t miss it!

Really great experience for our first time here. Server was very kind. Ever since inflation rose, I haven’t had a mexican restaurant offer more than one basket of free chips but this place did and the baskets were loaded! The main entrees were awesome, as well–the wet burrito, chile relleno, and chicken fajitas. If I find myself back in Frostburg, this restaurant will be hard to pass up.

Excellent authentic Mexican with good margaritas and a wonderful staff. My wife and I took my 5 year old on the Western Maryland Railway from Cumberland, MD. to Frostburg, MD and this was the winner among a ton of great choices to eat. Make the trip to the railway and grab some wonderful food at El-Canelo!

Extremely disappointed by what seems to be a major lack of customer service from this restaurant. My family tried ordering from here and even had an employee call to ask what type of meat we wanted on a burrito that was on the order and to tell us that we would not receive any rice as they were out. We happily accepted as we were just happy to get our order before they closed. Around 45 minutes after the call I receive a call from Grubhub that the restaurant had canceled the order and decided not to tell us themselves. I then called into the restaurant several times throughout the next week just hoping to get an answer as to what happened before leaving a review only to be told every time that there was no manager on duty and to receive lots of annoyed responses from the on duty employees.

Every single time we come here (which is at least once a week) we get a margarita on the rocks with a salt rim. delicious. I usually get a fried beef chimichanga, but lately have been getting the fajitas texanas. Service is so quick and it’s always quiet and comfortable.

Was looking forward to a cheese enchilada with burrito and rice & beans for lunch. But the enchilada had molé sauce on it, that’s wonderful if you like molé, but not if you don’t! I took a bite and couldn’t eat it, so they graciously switched it out with a different enchilada that had a red sauce on it, but it was just a regular tomato sauce, like plain spaghetti sauce. Did not taste like an enchilada at all, and to be honest, the whole plate tasted of the molé which had spread around. I told him I wasn’t going to pay for the enchilada and so they didn’t charge me for the meal, which was very nice. I felt a little bit bad, but it just was not good at all for me and left most on the plate. Everybody was nice though and the salsa they served with the chips was awesome.

Very delicious place to eat. The food is priced amazingly compared to other places. They have perfect portions for their prices and the owners are very sweet! I definitely recommend El Canelo!
