Atmosphere & Staff:
Very clean, condiments always fully stocked. Very beautiful paintings and art on the wall, reminiscent of the actual District 1 in Saigon.
The staff are always amazing. The owner is always very friendly. I’ve been coming here since I was 17, and I am now 22. He and the chefs, recognize my face, remember my stories, and often ask how my life is going. They are amazing and treat me like family. They make sure I always enjoy the food and even introduce me to new menu items as they arise. I love them!
Food:
Always bomb. No matter what I get. Today I had the Mi Quang. Thick noodles, clean yet flavorful broth. Never skimps on the veggies or proteins.
I often order the Goi Ddu Ddu, Banh Trang Tron, Banh Beo Khay, Bun Bo Hue, Banh Mi, or Bo Ne. I’ve never had an issue with pricing or quality of food. I think you get good quality food for the right price. People don’t realize how having an extensive menu like this, while maintaining consistent results, is harder than it looks. They are amazing, tastes just like if I cooked it myself at home (without the trouble, time, or mess!)
I wish this place got more attention and traction for the quality service and food they offer. Please try them out to support their independent business!
District 1, tucked inside 99 Ranch Market, is a delightful surprise that delivers Vietnamese flavors with friendly service. The restaurant maintains a clean, welcoming atmosphere with genuinely friendly staffs.
## What We Tried
**Hu Tieu Go (Clear Rice Noodle Soup)** – This dish was absolutely wonderful! The clear broth has perfect balance of flavors, complemented by fresh chives and a very generous portion of tóp mỡ (crispy pork fat cracklings) that added incredible depth and richness. It’s comfort food at its finest.
**Fresh Sugar Cane Juice** – Genuinely sweet and refreshing without any of the bitter citrus peel aftertaste you sometimes encounter when citrus is used to prevent browning. This was pure, clean sweetness that perfectly complemented our meal.
**Egg Roll Tray** – A standout item that showcases authentic Vietnamese preparation. They seem to use traditional Vietnamese rice paper instead of the Chinese flour wraps or Filipino versions found elsewhere, creating that distinctive natural flaky crunch and airy. I found the taro pieces in the filling was a nice touch that reminded me of home country party trays. I noticed that they carry Knorr soy sauce as part of the condiments basket – an excellent choice that provides just the right amount of seasoning without being overpowering like some other brands.
**Baos (Chicken Mushroom & Salted Egg Yolk Pork)** – I took these to-go for dinner and reheated them by wrapping in a slightly damp paper towel and microwaving for one minute. They turned out moist, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Pro tip: they’re delicious slightly dipped in tuong ot (chili sauce).
## Why District 1 Stands Out to us
What sets District 1 apart is their commitment to authentic Vietnamese techniques and ingredients. From the traditional rice paper egg rolls to the generous tóp mỡ in the soup, every dish shows attention to cultural authenticity. The quality remains consistent whether dining in or taking food home. Yes, the taste may different from one person to other, but distance also important, for us Frisco is near by, and District 1 by far delivery taste and convenient in one spot, that to me win over most Vietnamese restaurant near by.
**Highly recommended** for anyone seeking genuine Vietnamese flavors in a clean, friendly environment. Don’t let the location inside a grocery store fool you – this is serious Vietnamese cooking done right.
I also had the Vietnamese crispy rolls that came with pickled carrots and daikon, lettuce and mint. They were crispy and with a fragrant minced meat filling.
Glad to see South East Asian cuisine continue to try to break through that food court.
I’m so grateful to finally find out an authentic Viet food store in the middle of Frisco. They also offer a wide range of options for Viet foods and drinks. Their food are tasty and has a good portion. I got Banh Khot and Bun Dau Mam Tom. Very pleased and happy with them!
Also, they are giving a complimentary Banh Mi as it is their grand opening week.
The owner and staff are very friendly and nice.
I will be back here and support them!
P/s: not every one has the same taste, so come and try them for yourself!
