A casual breakfast spot located at the end of a strip mall, Ruby Slippers is a quick and accessible option for those looking for a carb heavy southern breakfast. We were able to be seated as walk-ins on Presidents Day morning, although the place was absolutely packed. The service here was warm and the food came out moderately quick. This place feels like one of those higher end casual spots, definitely a step above IHOP, but not quite First Watch.

We ordered a bunch of things so we’ll break it down one by one:
Pancakes with bacon – a bit of a letdown. Pancakes had no real flavor and the bacon was good, not great.
Beignets – pretty good. Better than some we’ve had for sure, a nice sweet and doughy treat.
French toast bites – very delicious. Came with a nice, sweet dipping sauce that really brought it home.
Fried catfish & grits – hit and a miss. The catfish was delicious and lightly battered, the grits were very heavy and buttery which didn’t go well with the catfish. It does also come with a biscuit that was light and buttery.
Creamy vanilla iced coffee – good. Nothing too special, definitely better than a chain like Starbucks, that’s for sure. It had a nice sweetness to it.

Altogether, Ruby Slipper is a decent breakfast spot. Nothing we ate really hit it out of the park, but we were satisfied with our meal. It really seems like a local favorite spot and one that feels convenient to hit coming and going from NOLA. If you’re looking for quick, convenient, and moderately cheap, this is the spot you’re searching for.

First time here and Ashley was great navigating us through the menu options. The Chicken St Charles was definitely on point and very filling. The fried chicken had a buttermilk taste in the breading….mmmmm. The Eggs Cochon were very tasty and also filling. The poached eggs were perfectly timed. Ashley was very attentive and definitely brightened up our morning.

I have been hearing amazing things aboit this place, so a friend and I stopped by. First off its located in a nice shopping center, therfore the location is amazing. The food however was mid. The potatoes were just frozen potatoes. We both got the Migas and it was not as advertised. It states spicy chorizo, but there was nothing spicy about it. The avocados were fresh and its hard to find a restaurant with fresh avocados, they were perfect.

I would not come back. It wasnt bad, just not to my liking.

This was my first visit, and it was amazing! Everything was delicious from start to finish and our server Hailey was great. If I was staying in town longer I would definitely return! Get the French toast bites, you won’t be disappointed!

Got there a little before 10 on Sunday. It was super busy but the wait was only 15 with no reservation. Food was delicious and our server Ashley C. was very courteous and attentive even with how busy it was. Highly recommend the peacemaker for the bennies so you can try two different eggs Benedict. Will go back when we are in town so we can try more delicious food!

We solo by for a quick rest of our road trip and to try the pancakes.
My wife got the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes. They were tasty and flavorful. They tasted like a freshly made Cinnamon roll.
I had the Bananas Foster French Toast. They were delisious.
The service was excellent, the food came out pretty fast. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.
We found the pancakes and French Toast pretty pricey for it to be served without any eggs or sides.

We were among the lucky first customers on the Saturday morning we dined here, having waited in the parking lot for the doors to open. We were promptly seated, but from there, the promptness gave way to a surprisingly slow pace.

Our server was friendly, kind, and always wore a smile, which we appreciated. However, the overall service was unusually slow—so much so that it left us genuinely puzzled. The restaurant appeared adequately staffed, and there wasn’t much of a crowd, so the delay didn’t seem to have an obvious cause.

That said, everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and thoroughly enjoyable. The food absolutely delivered. Still, the lag in service was the slowest we’ve experienced in recent memory, and without any clear explanation, it stood out.

As visitors from Kansas, we’ve heard that Southern hospitality can have a more relaxed pace, but this caught us off guard. We’d definitely return for the food—but next time, we’ll come prepared for a leisurely experience.

Rick provided exceptional service during my visit. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations. His positive attitude really enhanced the dining experience. I highly recommend asking for Rick if you want top-notch service at. Rick also made me laugh and giggle. I had the best time of my entire life here and the food was the best food I’ve ever eaten in my whole life. All in all the best retiring and server in the world.
