My experiences at this Rigoberto on McLoughlin have been very hit-or-miss. Roughly 50/50 good and bad. Unfortunately, my two most recent visits have been among the worst, so I’m sharing this in hopes the management and staff take steps to improve.
The biggest ongoing issue is the handling of online orders. Customers frequently face excessively long wait times before receiving any attention at all. When staff finally do acknowledge you, the service often feels rude and dismissive, as though you’re interrupting their day rather than being a paying customer. It would make a huge difference to have at least one dedicated team member focused on promptly and courteously handling pickup and online orders in the sequence they were received. If this system is already set up, the staff member in charge is somehow not found or helpful.
I recently read another review suggesting possible discrimination as the cause of long waits. As someone of Hispanic descent, I can confirm I’ve experienced the exact same prolonged delays and unfriendly treatment. This suggests the issue may stem from inconsistent prioritization or staff attitude rather than targeting specific groups—it feels like staff decide their preferences on any given day.
A typical experience: I place an online order and wait 20–30 minutes before heading over. Upon arrival, there’s no welcoming greeting or helpful acknowledgment. Then I wait another 20–30 minutes (or longer) while in-lobby customers, drive-thru orders, and seemingly everyone else gets served first—online pickups appear to be last priority.
The good:
– Excellent variety at the salsa bar
– Generous portions and solid combo/menu options
– Reliable availability, especially with 24-hour operations—very convenient
The bad:
– Chronically long wait times (especially for online orders)
– Rude or indifferent customer service
– Poor order prioritization that leaves pickup customers waiting unnecessarily
Recommendation: If fulfilling online orders is such a burden for the staff, consider discontinuing the service entirely rather than providing consistently slow and unfriendly experiences. Customers shouldn’t arrive excited for their food only to be met with long delays and unwelcoming attitudes.
Food is good enough to keep me coming back occasionally, but the service issues are starting to outweigh the convenience. Hoping things improve soon.
