This was our first time here, but we will be repeat customers. I ordered online and it said 25 minutes after I place the order. We showed up at about 20 minutes and the food was ready. Very friendly staff and our order was perfect. We got shrimp fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, and the General tso chicken combo. The shrimp fried rice tasted great, although it’d be nice if there was a little more shrimp in it. The combo came with chicken fried rice (which I loved because I don’t like pork fried rice) and two crab rangoon. Some combos come with an egg roll but I’m glad mine had the rangoon because they were delicious. Highly recommend giving this place a try [photos are mid-meal because I forgot]

My first time ordering take out from A Taste of China and it was excellent! The portions were huge and quality of ingredients were high. The gentleman at the counter was very kind and even ensured the packaging was tightly wrapped so that the food would stay hot after going out into the cold.

Classic American Chinese cuisine. I called in an order and it was quickly ready within 15 minutes, even with a lunch crowd starting. The lady at the counter was pleasant & inviting.
I ordered the “full order” of Empress Chicken, Hot Braised Chicken & crab rangoon. The chicken was perfectly crisp & sauces well balanced. Vegetables were fresh, bright and flavorful. The crab rangoon are made with wonton style wrapper, which makes them have a nice chewy bite. The filling has a mild authentic crab flavor that balances well with the cream cheese.
It’s classic take out, well done. I’ll definitely order again.

Everything was delicious! Some of the best egg drop soup I’ve had. We ordered: egg drop soup, potstickers, crab Rangoon, pork fried rice, scallops and beef (I think was the name)

Food was ok, for regular Chinese. Service was very slow. Granted it was New Year’s Eve, so I’m allowing for that. But I was waiting long enough to see that there weren’t very many coming in for pickup or delivery, they were just slow. They told us on the phone it would be 30-35 minutes, which would be fine for the holiday, but it was actually an hour.

The food is pretty good. But it’s not fast food. It’s going to take a while. 20-30 minutes has been my experience on multiple occasions.

Good food even though it wasn’t the “traditional American” version I’m used to.
It’s very inexpensive! And the restaurant was clean and the lady behind the counter was friendly.
I ordered Cashew chicken lunch special (default comes with dark meat; $1 up-charge for white meat). My meal was good and the chicken was fried (default option), however, this isn’t the traditional cashew chicken I’m used too. That’s the only reason I didn’t give the restaurant a 5 star rating. I think since I ordered at lunch time, maybe they prep a similar cook technique for all meals and add sauces as desired?!
Again, it was good and there’s plenty of food for just $5.50!

My husband wanted to celebrate his birthday here because they had unique vegan options and were extremely affordable (cheaper than most similar take-out oriented restaurants). We love Chinese food but had no idea this little innocuous place would be SO delicious. I had the hot braised tofu and he had the Mongolian tofu (see photos). Neither dish was one available in our hometown (Cincinnati, Ohio). Neither were particularly spicy, either, but both were ridiculously delicious. I had a hard time eating it slowly enough not to burn my tongue. The half dishes were $6.50 and the whole dishes were $8.50. This is among the cheapest Chinese food we’ve ever eaten but among the best flavor-wise. Both of us left with full and happy stomachs.
I should note that we dined in. The place was well air-conditioned, cute, comfortable aesthetic, and clean. The tables and chairs could use some updating eventually, but we personally don’t care about that kind of thing. The woman at the counter was super friendly and willing to answer questions about the dishes. Dining in meant we served on real plates with real silverware, which was a surprise considering I figured we’d get take-out boxes and plastic forks. Each dish came with white rice, as is standard, and their fortune cookies were the quality ones (both of flavor and fortunes). Although we ate inside, there are some tables available outside as well.
We loved this place and wish we could transport it home. We will try to make another stop here before we leave for Cincinnati. You are lucky to have this wonderful gem of a restaurant in Fenton! A Taste of China receives my highest recommendation.

Been going here for 20 years and I’ve never had a bad meal or one complaint. That’s something these days. Good family owned business, Jeannie & Richard always give you friendly service, and food fast with a smile. A solid community business in Affton.
