I came to Cinnholic with my wrestling team after a tournament. The man working there was super friendly, patient, and helpful despite how many of us walked in.

I asked what he recommended between two cinnamon rolls and he steered me towards the “Cookie Monster,” and boy was that the right call!

The cinnamon roll was hot and fresh out of the oven. It practically melted in my mouth. The cookie dough was delicious – they did not skimp on the toppings!

The atmosphere was very enjoyable, and it smelled amazing.

10/10 recommend 🙂

A Scent-Sational Start with a “Fast-Pass” Fumble ☕

Walking into Cinnaholic is like getting a warm hug from a stick of cinnamon. The aroma is 10/10 and immediately sets the bar high for what’s to come.

I went for the Cinnacakes/Bites topped with Crème Brûlée frosting. I saw the sign warning of a 9-minute wait for that fresh-baked perfection and settled in, deciding that a few extra minutes was a small price to pay for gooey, warm bliss.
The “Power Reviewer” Reality Check:
* The Speed: My order was ready almost instantly—well under the 9-minute mark. Usually, “fast” is a win, but in this case, it was a bit of a red flag.
* The Temperature: When I opened my box, the bites were unfortunately a bit underwhelming and barely room temp. When you’re mentally prepared for a “fresh from the oven” experience, lukewarm dough is a bit of a letdown.
* The Silver Lining: On the flip side, my friend ordered four of the “Fancy” Cinnamon Rolls to go, and they looked absolutely spectacular—loaded with toppings and looking every bit like the premium treats Cinnaholic is known for.

The flavors are definitely there (that frosting is dangerous!), but the execution on the bites missed the mark on temperature this time. If you’re looking for that melt-in-your-mouth experience, you might want to double-check that your “wait time” actually happens!

Tip: If your order comes out in under 2 minutes when there’s a “9-minute” sign posted, don’t be afraid to ask if they can pop them back in for a quick warm-up. The toppings are too good to eat on cold dough!

My family and I love Cinnaholic. We live in KC but have family in town. When we visit, we try to get Cinnaholic at some point during our trip.

When the store first opened, the quality of the rolls and service were exceptional. Lately both are lacking. Last weekend we had quality and service difficulties at the Ankeny location and had mobile ordered. This weekend we went back to the East Village location and it was almost worse.

My mobile order that was placed on Friday for pickup on Sunday, wasn’t ready, no record of it could be found and it took two associates before they decided my email confirmation was valid. 30 minutes after my original pick up time and after asking if both my orders of Cinnabites were included, I left with my order. Once in the car, I started checking our order to make sure we had everything. One of the orders of Cinnabites that I had ordered was missing and I was given an extra plain roll instead. The box of Cinnabites that was in my order barely had any sugar/cinnamon sprinkle on it and were small. The Cinnabites were what caused a big delay to begin with and are a limited release so I went back for them. I knew they didn’t have them ready so I called ahead to explain the situation and that I would be back to get them. There was no apology from the staff member when I called or when I got to the store to pick them up. The “new” order of Cinnabites had a better amount of Cinnamon/sugar sprinkle on them.

At no point while I waited for 30+ minutes for order, was there ever an apology or an offer for a refund or free coffee, pastry, or soft serve. I don’t need free stuff, but common courtesy suggests at minimum offering an apology for the inconvenience. At today’s visit and last weekend’s in Ankeny, customers either waited 10+ minutes to be greeted or left because the wait was so long, at 10:10 in the morning. What used to run as a well oiled machine has really fallen and it makes me sad. I’m hoping that by leaving this review management will spend more time in their stores and with their staff. It tends to make all the difference.

Absolutely love this place! 100% vegan! The cinnamon rolls taste like phenomenal! You can’t tell there is no milk or butter inside! So warm and gooey! Great staff, super cute inside! Worth stopping by when you’re in the east village! I wish this was there when I lived in the east village! I would’ve taken a cinnamon roll and ate it at the capital! Very good! We also got the edible cookie dough and that was good too!

Went in and my experience wasn’t great the cinnamon rolls barely had any toppings when the pictures of the cinnamon rolls in the store showed alot more . It was very disappointing with the price I paid. Our hostess wasn’t very happy or excited to be there she had ear buds and in and my opinion not very welcoming at all. The cinnamon rolls were very good but very disappointed about the toppings.

Daisy was our cashier and expert cinnamon roll crafter full of magic and sugar, there were 5 of us some with multiple rolls and she handled everything swiftly and with ease- the rolls were so fabulous with generous amounts of frosting and it was the most amazing time- for 3 of our group it was their first time at Cinnaholic and it was beautiful to see all their reactions- they were (vegan) buttery and perfect and gone way too fast!

I recently visited Cinnaholic in the East Village and was blown away. This place puts the gourmet in cinnamon rolls, every roll is handcrafted and completely vegan, yet tastes indulgent and fresh.

What really sets this spot apart is the build-your-own concept. With over 40 frostings and toppings, from classic cream cheese to cake batter and peanut butter cups, it’s a dessert-lover’s dream. I chose a specialty cinnamon roll and couldn’t resist adding extra frosting, each bite was soft, warm, and packed with flavor, yet beautifully balanced.

The staff were friendly and helpful, guiding me through their imaginative menu. Service was fast, and the atmosphere is inviting, perfect for a cozy treat or a sweet meetup with friends.

It’s a bit pricier than your average bakery, but it’s worth every penny. A premium experience, perfect for anyone (vegan or not) who loves comfort desserts. I’m already planning my next visit to try one of their seasonal rolls and their oat milk soft-serve.

Highly recommend, whether you’re vegan or just looking for an amazing dessert spot in Des Moines.

Cinnamon rolls were great, unique flavors and fresh from the oven. The cookie dough wasn’t our favorite. Staff was very laid back, not very interested in the customer.

Cinnaholic in Des Moines is a true gem for dessert lovers with a conscience! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by their commitment to crafting indulgent, plant-based desserts that not only satisfy your sweet tooth but also align with a mission to make a positive impact on the world.

Their cinnamon rolls are simply divine—soft, warm, and customizable, with a wide variety of frostings and toppings to suit any craving. Beyond the incredible flavors, I deeply admire their dedication to supporting animal welfare and sustainable food practices. It’s refreshing to see a business that prioritizes both taste and ethical responsibility.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, creating a delightful experience from start to finish. If you’re in Des Moines and looking for a dessert that’s both delicious and meaningful, Cinnaholic is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back for more!
