What a fantastic chip shop. The food is excellent and the staff are excellent. Well done to Alex and his staff. I tried coley for the first and it was cooked to perfection and the batter was the best I have ever tasted. Will back here again and again.

We drove all the way to Minster just to try Archie’s famous giant cod and chips, and honestly… it was absolutely worth every mile! The moment we walked in, the owners and staff were so warm, friendly and welcoming — genuinely lovely people who were smiling the whole time. It made the whole experience feel extra special.
Now the food… wow.
I’m extremely picky when it comes to fish and chips, and nothing ruins it faster than oily batter. But Archie’s got it perfect. The batter was light, crisp, and fried beautifully without being greasy. The fish inside was delicious, fresh and perfectly flaky. And the portion was huge — this cod was no joke!
There were loads of chips (proper tasty ones), and we loved the variety of sides: gravy, curry sauce, beans and mushy peas. They even surprised us by bringing out buttered toast so we could make chip butties.
Everything was very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality and the portion sizes. We left happy, VERY full and seriously impressed.
Totally lives up to the hype
We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Best fish and chips I’ve had in years! The staff were amazing and super friendly. We had the extra large cod. If you will be having their special large cod, i advise that you call beforehand to make sure if they have it in stock (it’s quite popular and can run out before the end of the day). Overall, fantastic experience and food. Highly recommend!

We came for the food challenge, but they obviously have a regular menu! The challenge easily feeds 6, and would be a good per person deal. Their regular menu is comprehensive and the shop is always busy, but fast serving. Fish was super fresh and with very crispy batter. Chips were fresh and slightly crunchy. Sides were delicious – mushy peas, beans, gravy, curry sauce. Special shout out to the curry sauce.

We drove from Ashford to experience the ultimate massive Fish & Chips platter that someone uploaded on social media. Unfortunately, when we got there we were told that a fish that size has to be ordered 1 day in advance.
They offer cod, haddock, sausages, desserts, etc. My husband ordered the large fish & chips (haddock) and I ordered the medium fish & chips (haddock). As you can see in the pics, these are pretty big sizes of fish. Not usually found in your typical fish shops. The platters were served with salad (iceberg lettuce, red onions, tomatoes).
We were greeted by Natalia who was absolutely lovely and cheerful. We were also greeted by the owner Alex who was very pleasant and who told us about the big fish experience, when to stop by, and the busiest days (Thursday-Sunday).
My husband who’s Black British rates the food 4/5. I’m from the US and our fish tend to be more on the seasoned side as well as our chips. As such, I would rate it a 2/5 for taste. 5/5 for sizes of the fish.
If you’re a lover of fish and chips, then Archie’s in Ramsgate is the place for you. You can even go across the street to “Hair of the Dog” get a beer or cider and bring it over to Archie’s with no hassle…that’s definitely a plus and we did.
Overall cost (large + medium fish & chips + Rio soda) = about £35-38

I drove over 4 hours to review this fish & chips and I choose the new deal at this moment is the munch box fish & chips with Scampi & fish cakes it was one of the best meals ever and this is the new menu I did enjoy it was very delicious the chips where perfectly cooked plus the scampi with the fish cakes was outstanding I can only give 10 out of 10 I would love to give 20 but I can’t, I can only recommend to everyone the staff was so friendly clean place to eat you can eat inside aswell. Fantastic ! Had a lovely meal here, 1st time & really enjoyed the delicious freshly cooked food, friendly staff & nice atmosphere, good portions but if you pre-order you can have the extra super sized giant fish & chips ! great for sharing, all the extras available like mushy peas, curry sauce etc. definitely recommend, takeaway also available

I would like to leave a review about a wonderful restaurant where my family likes to eat. Every Friday we traditionally get together with the family and order food delivery from this place. And what can I say. They have one of the best services. Probably only Michelin is better . All the dishes look very great and very tasty. The portions are very large, even when ordering a small fish and chips, you can’t always eat everything at once. There is a large enough assortment and menu that you can order. Delivery as an advantage is carried out very quickly. The delivery men are very polite and attentive to the order. In general, to sum up, I would give 5 stars to this institution.

Visited after seeing videos online in the fish and chips Facebook group. Arrived just after opening for an eat in lunch. Sadly the food was nothing like that shown in the videos – despite being freshly cooked. The restaurant area was clean and the staff were excellent but overall rather disappointed with the visit.
