An early breakfast. Tried their famous Dutch Baby. A giant airy pancake topped with fresh strawberries, banana, strawberry syrup, fluffy whipped cream and maple syrup.

Some of the best unique pancakes around. The original pancakes are absolutely a must when you visit. Their specialty pancakes are good but some, like the lemon pancakes were much thinner than expected. Very good still! They also have good waffles, and the eggs & bacon always come out great. If you’re interested in a good breakfast, and have a craving for pancakes, waffles, crepes or anything regarding breakfast you need to stop by. Do keep in mind if you are going to eat early on a weekend day to utilize their wait-list as you generally have a longer wait during that time.

Love this place, the bacon is the thickest I’ve ever had. I’m not even a fan of breakfast, but this is my go to. Real fresh squeezed orange juice made at the restaurant. Huge fluffy omelets. Great pancakes of course. And the bacon! Good service too. Gets busy on weekend morning, but other times I’ve never waited for a table.

A Disappointing Brunch Experience

I’d always heard so much about The Original Pancake House, and during my visit to Minnesota, I finally decided to give it a try for brunch. Unfortunately, what I anticipated to be a delightful meal turned into a truly aggravating experience.
We waited over 40 minutes in line, only to be given a booth right next to the kitchen door. The constant traffic of waitstaff and the overwhelming kitchen smells made it an incredibly unpleasant spot. When we asked to move, our waitress informed us that other tables were reserved for different servers. If we wanted a different booth, we’d have to wait another 20 minutes.
We decided to wait, hoping for a better spot. Instead, they escorted us to a table literally right by the front door. The hostess’s attitude made it clear it was a “take it or leave it” situation. After waiting nearly an hour combined, we still didn’t have the booth we’d requested. She clearly got annoyed and walked away, leaving us stranded. We had to flag down another waiter, who, thankfully, was much more accommodating and finally got us a suitable table.
The ordeal didn’t end there. After we finished eating, we waited another 30 minutes for our waitress to cash us out. We paid in cash and intended to tell her to keep the change as a tip, but it took her an additional 45 minutes to return with our change!
This place clearly doesn’t value its customers’ time. We felt like just another number in their system. The way we were treated was utterly disappointing. I will never go back, nor would I recommend this place to anyone who values their time and money.

Great food! Always busy but can generally get in when I have been there. Overall amazing. The service can be hit or miss since they are so busy, but worth it!

I’m really disappointed with my experience today. Our server took mine and my son’s order and then never came back to check on us. Part of my meal never even made it to the table, and when I asked another server for help, she didn’t seem to care and just said she would “let our server know.”

We never got drink refills, and overall the service felt completely inattentive. The food was okay, but definitely not enough to make up for how poor the service was.

I used to love coming to this location, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Passing thru MSP. The best breakfast ever! Since it was a one visit, of course we had the specialties. “Apple Pancake” and “Dutch baby”, both as good as we remembered.

I’m from the south and I wish I had this instead of ihop. The pancakes were niche but sooo good. The service was great, she was very ontop of everything! The restaurant is also very beautiful. I love the way it was put together.

I was in town for work and my coworker brought me here for breakfast. It was fantastic! The soufflé omelette was absolutely delicious and the banana pancakes were phenomenal. I know where I am going for breakfast when I come back!

My first time here, and I’m beyond disappointed. It’s ridiculous that I have to either pay way more for my meal because of minor substations, risk myself by ordering as it comes out or just not eat at all. I’m allergic to eggs and asked for oatmeal instead. Which is cheaper than eggs!! They forced me to do an a-la-cart order and charge me separately for each item I ordered. So I lost out on a full breakfast. Not that it mattered much, my steak was so bland. Absolutely no flavor or seasoning. The only thing that was halfway decent was the oatmeal. Thank goodness it was, otherwise I’d let hungry. This is very poor customer service. I’ve never been to a restaurant that charged you so much extra for any type of substation. ESPECIALLY when you’re substation is based on MEDICAL reasons!! Do better!! Will not be coming back!!
