Local-fave burger joint, serving burgers so juicy, they come with their own napkin. Big burgers, local craft beer, comfort food favorites, patios and good vibes. Everything is prepped by hand, in-house each morning, including our vegetables, fries, sauces and burger patties. We do not freeze any products, except our ice cream of course, and you can taste the difference.

Not enough food for the money. So I walked in here and was greeted immediately and the staff member was knowledgeable about the products they offered so I asked if they could make me my favorite cheeseburger.
I requested a bacon, portobello mushroom and Swiss cheese burger with grilled onions and barbecue sauce. I was informed that they could and they even told me it would be a half pound Patty, this turned out to be a quarter pound Patty that was very dry. The mushrooms were overcooked, there were no onions or barbecue sauce on it, and they charged me over $15… oh yeah it didn’t even come with fries or a drink. Disappointed is putting it mildly. You can buy a better burger at Whataburger that comes with fries and a drink for less money.

Good burgers and chicken sandwich here . Staffs are great and have outside seatings also . Burgers was cooked like the way I requested and it came out nice and juicy . Chicken was surprisingly crispy and good .

Haystack has always been a reliable burger joint—good food, good service, and solid value. Unfortunately, tonight missed the mark. The burgers didn’t taste quite as good as usual and seemed noticeably smaller, which made the price harder to justify. Still a decent burger overall, but the value that once set Haystack apart no longer seems to be there. Sadly, this will likely be my last visit.

We’ve been coming to Haystack Burgers & Barley for about 7 years and it’s been one of our go-to spots—especially because it’s easy with kids and has usually been consistent. Over the last ~9 months, though, the experience has slipped in a few meaningful ways.

The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Nashville Hot Chicken Salad were standout items for us, and they’ve been removed. I understand menu consolidation, but those were legitimately excellent—and we’ve heard other regulars mention missing them too.

The tap list used to be a big part of why we came (typically8–12 beers on draft). On our most recent visit it was down to 5.

The Cabernet that used to be bottled now seems to be served from a keg, and the taste is noticeably different than it used to be.

We genuinely want to keep supporting Haystack, but these changes have pushed it out of our normal rotation—and I’d hesitate to bring family from out of town right now, which is a bummer because it used to be an easy recommendation. We have friends who also attend the restaurant and they have noticed a similar dining experience recently.

Actionable ask for management: please consider (1) bringing back the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Salad, (2) restoring a fuller rotation of beer taps, and (3) returning to bottled Cabernet (or at least offering a bottled Cab option again).

If any of this is temporary, I’d love to hear that—because we’d like to keep coming back.

Haystack Burger – Veggie Vibes & Parkside Perks

Tried out Haystack Burger with high hopes and hungry hearts! We ordered the vegetarian burger—a mix of beans and veggies, topped with cheese and lettuce. Let’s just say… it wasn’t exactly a flavor explosion . Compared to the veggie burger at Shake Shack (aka Shik Shak in our house ), this one felt a little shy on the wow factor.

We also gave their “special fries” a shot —but the only thing special was how quickly they disappeared… not because they were amazing, just because we were hungry .

Ordered a plain veggie burger for my daughter with just cheese—no complaints from her, but she did drown it in ketchup like it was a rescue mission . Gotta love that kid logic!

Now, the real MVP of this spot? It’s right across from a park . So while the grown-ups are busy judging bean patties, the kids are living their best lives. That alone earns it a few gold stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Can’t speak for the beef burgers since we stick to halal, but maybe that’s where the magic hides ‍♂️ .

Final Verdict: Meh on the veggie, yay for the location. Would I go back? Maybe… if the kids drag me there after a park run .

Debatably the best Haystack Hamburger location. Large indoor area with patio facing a grassy area (thankfully not facing a parking lot). Large burgers with great French fries, a great happy hour on weekdays. Be sure to sign up for the loyalty program. Expect $10-$15 per hamburger (cheaper options for kids). Counter-service, self-seating, casual and relaxed.

Love the burgers! You can customize and order it EXACTLY how you enjoy it!
Like subway but for burgers lol
Their Chipotle ketchup/mayo is really good and they use fabric napkins for a homey feel.
It’s usually quiet when I go and easy to get to via 75 and Beltline!

We dined at Haystack on a weekend late afternoon when the weather was nice out, so they were packed (as was the entire Hillcrest Village area). The line took about 10 minutes to order, and it was a bit diffficult to find a table after putting our order in.

Fortunately, the food didn’t take too long to come out. Everything we ordered was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the Haystack Burger and fried Haystack Onions.

Not sure where to start this review, so I will start with their sister location on 75 and Beltline…I haven’t eaten there in a number of years, and I only ever ate there by myself, but I remember the burgers were great and the stuffed jalapeno poppers were better. Ok, snap to today. The Arapahoe location is relatively new to the area. The whole Arapahoe & Meadow Creek corner has been completely revitalized over the past few years with more to come. I have enjoyed more than several Haymakers (alcoholic drink) on warm nights since they opened at this location. It is a nice, kid friendly area to chill for a bit. Tonight was the first time I actually ordered off of the food menu. I was definitely expecting the same quality dining experience that I have enjoyed at the other location. Let’s start with the positives. Friendly service, warm atmosphere, and very accessible. I ordered a Haymaker and it was dyed green for St. Paddy’s day, and it lived up to what I am used to. My wife ordered the Hibiscus Lemonade (alcohol drink), and she really liked it. We started with a gluten free appetizer of chips, queso, and salsa. The chips were stale but edible. The queso and salsa were meh. Both items tasted like what you might expect from grocery store aisle Tostitos jars that were microwaved right after we ordered. The garlic Parmesan fries were hot and very tasty. Burgers were exactly what we ordered and they were just fine. Meat was not juicy and basically tepid at best. Burgers were not bad, but certainly not what I was expecting from past experience or for what we paid for them. Again, the gluten free bun, according to my Celiac daughter, was not up to par in comparison to other local burger joints. Their beer menu is pretty decent, and I have tried most of them. I don’t remember if they do the jalapeno stuffed poppers at this location, but I will definitely look for them the next time I visit. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience, but way too expensive for the quality of food. In the future, I will probably stick with a cold drink on the patio. I would say one thumb up and one thumb down.

It’s a good place for teenagers to hangout and have fun. I tried the avocado sauce hamburger and ate only half. It barely had any avocado sauce, and a couple of slices of avocado on the bottom bun. The patties had more pink than anything, and felt chewy.
