Been a huge fan of the Elkhorn for years and we drive for over an hour each way to visit… recent ownership change has ruined it. Since then, we’ve had reuben eggrolls served still frozen inside, garlic battered cheese squares still frozen inside, cheesesteak sandwich cold and cheese unmelted, the beef is tougher and almost gamey since new ownership. Pretty bummed with how its gone downhill because it used to be our go-to for food in Park County.
Edit: I do appreciate the professional response. We visited on Friday, February 20, 2026 around 6:30 PM. We are not looking for a free meal and you have not lost a customer, but I felt it may be helpful if it was brought to light. Five of our last 6 visits have been problematic. My word choice was poor when suggesting new ownership was the cause, when it could be everything from suppliers to cook staff. My apologies. I certainly hope it gets back on track for my favorite cheesesteak in the world.

We had wonderful service and two great meals here. Asked for a burger with no bun and it was PERFECT. If you love beautiful taxidermy this cute little bar/restaurant has some amazing pieces. A delightful stop for lunch or dinner.

We ordered the Elk cheesesteak at our waiters suggestion and it was a huge win. Homey little restaurant that also has bar seating. Super clean and friendly, we will absolutely stop here again! Thank you for the hospitality ❤️

We didn’t have anything special, hamburger and fries and chicken tender and fries. Atmosphere & Service was great. Food & price was good. Could not eat it all so it was our dinner also. We’re from another state and stop here when passing through. Lots of wildlife mounts.

I was in Meeteetse this past week to hunt with some friends. We came in to the Elkhorn for dinner every night. This place is great. The food is good and everyone is fun and friendly. Try the Wild Thing Burger!
