From Chicago and brought a friend visiting from Germany to visit Galena. Still awesome place but this time stopped for dinner and could asked for a better place. Mix of food and drinks and specially vegan food

We arrive at the Taphouse around 7:30p and greeted asking if we have a reservation. We didn’t, but also didn’t know why we needed one as the place was pretty empty. Our options for seating were the bar or a small round table in the back. We chose the table in the back.
We had a nice waitress but didn’t know her name as she didn’t introduce herself. My husband ordered a PBR & the chicken sandwich and I ordered the burger and a Moscow mule in a can. The food and drinks arrived fast which was nice.
The burger was very large and super red (I asked for medium not rare) but was too polite to send it back. I enjoyed the burger but it was very messy, super salty and too rare. I ended up eating the outside parts and leaving the patty on the plate.
My husband’s chicken sandwich was good but nothing super amazing as the other reviewers raved about the menu.
Maybe this was a fluke time, but we won’t be back. The small table could barely fit our two plates and drinks. I felt like we were at a children’s table.
I also didn’t understand why we had to make a reservation if the bigger tables were empty and nobody came to sit at them while we were there.

Had a great time here. Menu changed recently. I had an amazing burger and fries with a perfect fried egg on top. Wife had cat fish and chips. Both were awesome! Great rotating local beer selection and the owner is great! Will always stop for lunch when in Galena!

So happy we stopped here!! They have the most diverse menu of all Galena restaurants. We had truffle fries and grilled octopus for appetizers (I think the octopus was a little overcooked/chewy but the flavor was so so good). The yuca fries that came with the octopus were insanely good. I had the shrimp and pork belly fried rice for my main and it was delicious. My partner had the short rib and it was good but not great. We had the pistachio tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious.
We saw two parties walk in and look at the menu then walk out and I was SHOCKED by that. They missed out on a great meal. I would suggest to management that they add a couple of kid friendly items because I think that is why one of the parties walked out.
I can’t wait to come back, this is my new favorite place to eat in Galena.

A hidden gem in downtown Galena. I knew this place existed but had no idea food was served here. During a busy weekend, everything was booked full and we took a chance stopping by here and did not regret it. The menu is fantastic. Food is super delicious, well priced, fresh and has a unique flare to some classic dishes. The beer selection was great too. Our server was phenomenal as well and constantly checked in and was so fast.
The catfish sandwich was so good. Probably some of the best fried catfish I’ve ever had. The fries were cut thin and had an amazing Parmesan and truffle flavor. Chicken wings were sweet and savory. Also really loved the strawberry shortcake sour beer. Even the simple house salad was elevated with a delicious cucumber dressing. Seriously a pleasant surprise. I feel like I’ve eaten everywhere in galena but this spot just slid under the radar. Will absolutely return.

The food was delicious we order the steak stir-fry it was delicious 10/10
For appetizers we got some pork tostones 10/10 (highly recommend)
Everything was delicious and the service was excellent!

5/5. The food was beyond expectations. Les was our server, he provided fantastic service (and gave us stickers ). The tap house is dog friendly, if well-behaved. I brought my pup here, he slept here and said hi to a few patrons.

Easily became our favorite spot to eat! The food was 10 out of 10 everything was beyond great! As Chicago natives me and my fiance are big foodies and this will definitely be our new regular spot when we vist Galena! Helena,Kane, and Mrs.Kitty made us feel so welcomed and had the best service! Came here a year ago when we were skiing in Galena and had to come back since the food was amazing. Ever since we had their mussels me and the wife were talking about getting them again, thank goodness they were still on the menu and as amazing as we remember. We split the mussels and I got the Steak Gnocchi and she got the Squid Ink Risotto, and ended with the Thai Donuts. Both pastas were unbelievable and personally changed how I view risotto. Service is just as amazing as the food, 12/10 will come here anytime were in Galena again.
