Best ribs in New Castle, PA. Ok, best ribs in the N.W. Pa region, and let’s take that over into Ohio while we’re at it. I’m not kidding even a little bit. This little place has a Cordon Bleu trained Chef and his wife turning out some of the meatiest, tastiest pork ribs I’ve ever had. Anywhere.
It’s where Scustie’s pizza used to sit on Highland ave in New Castle, across from DG. The ribs are low smoked and no sauce. You’re getting the real deal here, Texas style. The ribs are fully cooked, meaty, smoky (but just enough) and no fat. Zero. Nada. Juicy, but not dripping.
And not sauced. That’s not the TX way. It’s just this deep smoky caramel color and flavor that comes from the meat and the pit master. This is some good stuff.
So, high fives all around. A place that fulfills my need for slow cooked pork ribs (and next week two lbs of beef brisket) the same way Gordo’s makes me happy about tacos.
Yep, I was waiting for Union BBQ to open just like I was waiting for Gordo’s Tacquerea to open last year. And I am just as happy.
Get in here, get the ribs, get the sides, and do it Friday – Saturday and Sunday until they run out, which will be happening often I’m hoping.
This place deserves to run out, they are just that good.

Had a great experience! Most barbecue in driving distance is bull shit. No smoke ring, dry, half ass effort in customer service, and covered in sauce to hide mistakes or lack of knowledge. This may have been my first experience here but holly shit. The pulled pork was tender yet not dry with pieces I could clearly see the smoke rin on and the brisket had the flop. I was more impressed with the fact that all the sides were compliments not covers. The beens were killer and you can’t hide basic but the slaw and the sauce… holy cow. You would be dumb not to try it. Im glad I took a chance yesterday. It was absolutely not a disappointment like most. You can tell they care. I hope more people support this up and coming spot. Im trying tacos and wings next. Ten stars from a fellow cook. Great job guys!!!!

Today we called the union barbecue company for the first time… We wanted to order some wings and thought we’d try them out… We ordered Two dozen… buffalo and garlic Parmesan…they are without a doubt, the best wings we have ever tasted… They were huge, plump, juicy, full of flavor And cooked the perfect perfection… And when we open the lids, they were the most delicious looking wings we had ever saw… They had a nice garnish on top of them and we said if they taste half as good as they look, they will be fantastic… But fantastic as in a strong enough word… They were absolutely amazing!!!!.. They will be our new go to place for wings and can’t wait to try out there. Ribs next weekend…. Do yourself a favor and give them a try… you won’t be disappointed!… Thank you, Union BBQ for opening a business here!!!

My boyfriend and I got the brisket platter with Mac and cheese and coleslaw, and the smash patty with fries. The main entrees were AMAZING. Brisket had great flavor and moisture, the burger was quite literally the best I’ve had in new castle (and I’ve tried a lotttt of the local places). The sides were just dry and lacked flavor, but their portions were great!

Fantastic BBQ! Ribs – A+, Brisket – A+, Chicken – A+ their house BBQ sauce A+. I haven’t tried everything yet, the owner gave my wife and I a sample of the Chili when we picked up our order, wow I can’t wait to order that next time. I’m very impressed, even the little Apple pies are phenomenal A++. I will be ordering every weekend. Anyone want to buy my gently used pellet smoker?
