We got a Santa Carla pizza – impressively good. An excellent blend of flavors, with the “kimchi garlic” really (pardon the pun) topping it off. I’m a fan of the many amazing Santa Cruz pizzerias and I’m quite pleased that Pogonip may be my new favorite – in a part of town that desperately needed a place like this. Many of the toppings are quite unique and I imagine I’ll be back dangerously often.
That said, they are still in the “soft open” phase, so, a few little details could use working out (the pretzels are served cold-we both would have preferred warmed; the house salad with vinaigrette was a bit simple and the “vinaigrette” seemed to be just oil).
The decor is fun too. Historic and modern bikes adorn the walls. The furniture, I am told, was mostly upcycled – how cool is that!
I highly recommend going in soon, as I think pretty soon it’s gonna be hard to get a table here.

Hands down the best pizza i have ever had. We went for the soft opening, tried 3 pies and each one of them was equally amazing! Tried a piece of the pretzel that was really good also! Can’t wait to see what they do, I’m all for it and will be back very soon for more pizza!

World-class pizza with an amazing community vibe, full of thoughtful homages to Santa Cruz’s mountain biking and film legacy. This place is truly special—it’s obvious the staff love making pizza and genuinely love Santa Cruz. The menu strikes a perfect balance between innovative and comforting, so there’s something here for everyone.

Incredible pizza made napolitano style with the best crust and high quality ingredients in town. The chef, Ryan, is an award winning pizza maker and local product that finally opened his own shop. They are friendly, fast, and have great pizzas with interesting flavor combos. Also, if you are bike geek, they have some amazing unique bikes on the walls from abroad and from local bike makers. Give them a try!

Amazing Pizza! Probably the best Pizza in the Santa Cruz area. This hidden spot is located on the upper westside by the 7-11. My favorite is the Magic Carpet pizza. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great pizza, good beer, and I love the atmosphere. With food options slim to none in this area of town, I’m wishing this place so much success!

Truly mouth watering pizzas with a variety of offerings and an amazing crust. Also pairs well with beer offerings and comfortable, clean and well designed interior. I love the bicycle and Pogonip Open Space theme. Co-owners Aaron and Ryan have created a go to pizzeria perfect for enjoying a good meal with friends, family or solo.

Spectacular pizza, worth the price. Very thin, with an amazingly, flavorful chewy crust. Had the magic carpet pizza. 10/10. First come, first serve for seating. This and Sleight of Hand pizza are the best in Santa Cruz hands down for Neapolitan style pizza.

For the gluten free folks: they have gf pizza but it’s the classic pre made crust (I think cauliflower). It’s about half the size of the normal pizza but with the extra charge I paid almost 35 dollars for just one very small pizza. Toppings and vibes were great and the normal pizza does look very good.
