Like most other Filipino restaurants/cafe, there is a behind-the-counter, glass protected buffet at the forefront of the restaurant. From here, you can make your selections as you build your combination platter.
The Filipiniana also offers a small section of baked goods and desert, while specializing in drinks such as Halo Halo and other Asian-curated beverages.
Interesting to note that the Filipiniana offers catering in the kamayan style (simply put, a spread of various dishes over banana leaves to be shared by multiple people amd eaten with hands). However, they don’t serve this in house/at the location – you will have to give advance notice (like with other caterers) to have this prepared.
The Filipiniana is definitely a good spot to satiate your curiousity, explore, and discover Filipino cuisine!
Today I got the Pata Frita, a fried piglet portion (2 legs) similar to lechon asado. Crunchy skin with small pockets of meat. My favorite was the Bistec, a spanish name for polomilla type steak but cooked in small squares chinese style without veggies, delicious. Then the Picadillo, ground beef vrry similar to the latino dish with the same name, pretty good. The last dish was Caldereta, a beef cooked in a typical latino caldero, very tasty. 2 desserts, our favorite the purple cake which I am guessing is made from taro and is frosted. Last a large square, rubbery with gummy bear consistency and topped with caramelized sugar which I liked.
I came across this Filipino type restaurant in the same strip center as Saigon Deli, about 4 doors down. They have a variety of authentic foods to offer that run out fairly quickly. I was 4th in line and saw 3 items run out while I waited. One was 1/2 a fried piglet which I would have bought given the chance.
I opted for the 2 meats with rice combo. One was adobo beef and the other a pork stew. Their food is very flavorful and savory. It is close in style to latino foods but the flavor profile is a bit different with a hint of asian spices. I liked the adobo most while the wife was very enthused with the bbq pork skewers. The skewer while very tasty, the meat was a bit dry and tough.
They have no menu since they make day to day specials. There are some savory pastries as well, we had a delicious purple cake they only make on weekends. They have drinks such as boba and teas with milk. Definitely want to go back and try some more of the filipino dishes I saw run out. Come get ya some.
Filipiniana Philippine Café is a hidden gem tucked next to Saigon Marketplace. The halo-halo here is absolutely amazing—layered perfectly with fresh ingredients, and served ice cold with love. You can really feel the pride in every detail, from the traditional flavors to the beautiful decor showcasing Filipino culture. The staff is warm and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a sweet treat. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic Filipino desserts and a cozy atmosphere!
For the business I suggest you have the food or at least majority of the food ready by the time you open. When I went, there were 3 other customers just sitting waiting for the food to come out.
Also, this store has the best Halo Halo in town!
