If I could give a 4.9, I would. This place was everything you would expect a local diner to be. Interesting atmosphere. Definitely a bar feel to the dining room. Service was good. She did apparently have the entire place as her section, but she actually did a good job keeping up. The only reason I gave 4 stars is I would like to see more seasoning and flavor in the entrees. They were cooked very well, but it is one of those places where you have to add salt and pepper to your taste at the table. If you are looking for that ultra basic food that is cooked extremely well, this is your place. I was really excited to see German potatoes as a menu option and what came out was something cooked in a fryer, not a flattop. They reminded me of french fries, not sauteed potatoes and onions.

I recently tried the Hot Beef Lunch Special, and it was the kind of classic comfort food that hits the spot. The beef was tender and well-seasoned, piled high over thick slices of soft white bread. It came smothered in rich brown gravy — flavorful without being overly salty — and paired with a generous helping of creamy mashed potatoes.
The portion size was impressive, especially for a lunch special, and it felt like great value for the price. Everything was hot and fresh, and the gravy tied it all together perfectly.

If you’re near The Bluff, do yourself a favor and stop in. Isabella gave amazing, attentive service. My husband had the Dagwood and said it was the best he’d ever had. I had the Smothered Chicken and it was delicious and plentiful. There’s a large, open dining room with large tables and comfortable chairs. We were in and out in about an hour.

Exactly what you expect from a midwestern cafe. Amazing food, lovely service.
I wish the portions were a little more.

The service was great, friendly, and very helpful. We split a ribeye and shrimp special, got an extra potato and salad. The kitchen separated everything for us and gave us a large serving of green beans. It was all wonderful! The wine was very good, and the poor was generous. The only issue was that we had to battle flies the whole time. I’m really not sure what they can do about that. We will be back any time we are in the area, it was that good!

First time here, a welcome opportunity for a very good sandwich on an otherwise long and boring trip. The place was clean and the service was surprisingly quick for a hot sandwich that wasn’t dry or “premade” tasting. Plenty of parking for trucks/trailers a plus too.

The most amazing experience that we have had in a restaurant in quite some time. My wife can only eat soft food, so the owner made sure she had a soft and flavorful, if slightly odd dinner, adding au jus to make it the best meal she has had in a week. We were just passing through and decided to go based on other reviews. They treated us like regulars. Oh, get the KC Strip! So much flavor that you don’t need anything except a fork and knife. The waitress kept checking on us and making sure that everything was straight for us, but mostly my wife. Go you can’t be disappointed.

Great food, excellent people. This place has the feel of a hunting lodge from the 1970s in the best possible way. Our whole family (age range 6-42) loved it.
