Being an oceanfront town, it only makes sense to help give back to this local ecosystem. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, and it means a lot to me as a customer to support businesses that are doing what they can, with intention, to limit our everyday single use plastic habits. Especially businesses that benefit from their proximity to the ocean itself.
I love that you provide real mugs and glassware to customers, and a dish bin to collect them when we are done. It makes it so much more enjoyable to sit on your lovely patio under the trees, and sip my coffee without making needless trash in the process.
While it does seem like some customers having their beverages to stay are not choosing (or do not know about) the reuse program, it seems to me that you are promoting it well with signage. The discount for bringing my own cup is incredible too!
Thank you again for being a good steward, and helping your customers to do so as well! It does not go unnoticed, and I hope more local cafés and restaurants here follow suit. As well as around the country. Keep up the great work!
Also: genuinely great coffee 🙂
Ordering online is easy, there’s a great outdoor patio, and plenty of indoor seating. It’s one of those places that works for everything. Catching up with a friend, hosting a meetup, studying, remote work, family hangouts, locals, tourists, cyclists. Yes, there’s a bike rack.
Let’s talk about the real stars. I’m obsessed with their toast and jam. Simple, perfect, no notes. And as someone who drinks iced vanilla lattes regularly, theirs always hits. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and consistently smooth.
Staff is cool too. Friendly, efficient, and never weird about explaining the menu or answering questions, even when it’s busy.
They’ve also got solid merch if you’re into taking a little piece of your favorite coffee shop home.
Parking is what it is. There’s a small lot and a paid city lot across the way, which feels very downtown Santa Barbara and not worth stressing over.
Pet friendly too. Just keep your well-behaved, leashed pup outside since health department rules are a thing.
Reliable, welcoming, and always a good cup. Dune is a staple for a reason.
This coffee spot has a great little corner spot. Parking wasn’t tough to find, it is in a walkable part of town, and the seating was ample when I went (which seemed to be a busy time, too). They had a Cinnamon Toast Crunch iced latte when I visited in September and I about lost my mind after the first sip, it was so good. I did, in fact, go up and order another one. I’d say the staff were reserved and not the warmest to walk up to, but that could be a personal preference bit for me. Outside of that, I really enjoyed this place and if I lived there would likely be there too much.
Major friendly dog spotting place. There are plenty of space in the sitting areas inside and outside.
Lots of cheerful colors. You can buy coffee beans there as well as fun stickers.
