On June 13, 2025 we did a full buy-out of Carving Room, NoMa for our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner and could not be more pleased with the experience! The level of service and quality was unparalleled. The food served was delicious, diverse and memorable. The presentation of the dinner buffet was stunning, and the table place-settings were beautiful and artistic.
One of the main reasons that we chose Carving Room for our event was the family-centric atmosphere. They put great care into our event as if it was one of their own family gatherings and made us feel welcome and celebrated. We got to know Abi and Chef Oded very well throughout the process and thoroughly enjoyed working with them. The entire team at Carving Room was exceptional and incredibly kind.

From the start, Abi was accommodating, thoughtful, organized and creative. She helped us plan our menu, talk through beverage options, and work out seating arrangements for our guests. She was very open to our ideas and timelines and offered welcome feedback and options.

Our rehearsal dinner served 55 people, and then we opened the restaurant to an additional 90 guests for Welcome Drinks. The transition happened seamlessly and the night was executed flawlessly. The pricing was very reasonable for a Friday night event in the DC area. The specialty cocktails were a particular hit! Guests were also very complimentary of the non-alcoholic beverage options.

For anyone looking to host an event (or just looking for a great meal), Carving Room is the place to go. We had the perfect Wedding Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Drinks & we will continue to come back to Carving Room for dinner on anniversaries to come!

We split the poblano pastrami and it was phenomenal! The fries are delicious. It came out quick and hot. Love the open window seating. Highly recommend!

Came here with friends and the food was delicious! The medium well steak I got was tender and went well with the roasted cauliflower flatbread that my boyfriend got. Vegetables were seasoned and roasted well—I loved the crunchy potato peels and the warmth underneath. I also ordered a lemonade mocktail that was pretty tart and delicious as well. Our server was pretty welcoming, and he got all our orders right without even writing anything down.

The ambiance is more upscale for sure. Seemed like a popular dining spot in DC!

Late evening beverage (and excellent martini) with large variety on menu. Chose cauliflower and baba ghanoush which came in bed of rice, surrounded by yogurt with a huge naan. Food OK and carried out a blueberry pudding cake (v good). My daughter said the burgers are fantastic, which aligns with the name!

We hosted a group of 30+ people at The Carving Room and they absolutely knocked it out of the park! From start to finish, everything was seamless. The staff was incredibly organized, friendly, and attentive, making it easy to accommodate such a large group without missing a beat.

The food was phenomenal!! Fresh, flavorful, and served efficiently despite our size. Everyone in our party was impressed, which is no small feat with a group that big! The atmosphere was welcoming and energetic, and the team made sure we felt taken care of the entire time.

If you’re planning a group event in DC, I can’t recommend The Carving Room enough. They truly went above and beyond to make our gathering a success. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was absolutely phenomenal. I had the traffic jam and it was perfect! The flavors were delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. The portions were generous, and I left feeling completely satisfied.

I also enjoyed the cozy and stylish decor. The restaurant has a relaxed and inviting vibe that’s perfect for a casual meal with friends or family.

Overall, I had an amazing experience at the Carving Room. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Excellent Shepard’s salad and poblano pastrami sandwich. I splurged on a passionfruit mule, notclassic ginger, but was refreshing and properly fruit flavor. The restaurant is casual and comfy but a bit noisy for me. I was seated at a common table, but I don’t mind other guests sitting close by. Otherwise, this is a great choice. Seating was readily available during the weekday that I visited.

Some places just feel like home — and The Carving Room NoMa is exactly that for me.

Growing up Jewish, I’m pretty picky about traditional comfort food… but they absolutely nailed it. The matzo ball soup is rich, comforting, and tastes the way you remember it from childhood. The hummus is incredibly fresh and smooth — you can tell everything is made with care.

Rachel, the owner, is genuinely kind and generous, and you feel that warmth the moment you walk in. The ambiance has the perfect cozy-but-lively neighborhood vibe!!! We love CR!!

A true neighborhood gem.

It could be a 4 but the flies and mosquitoes were out of control. I got eaten alive inside and flies kept landing on our plates. Service was ok. Food was good. But the lack of bug mitigation killed it for me. Wouldn’t go back (except maybe for that kids pizza… that was fire- should be on the app menu!!).

Nice place for a little non-traditional food items. Great for cocktails and appetizers. Nice little patio option for setting outside.
