The biggest downside for me was the classic spicy tuna roll — it had way too little tuna, which was disappointing. Overall, good for a quick bite if you know what to expect, but not the spot for truly authentic sushi.
The food was great but the name of the restaurant doesn’t fit the vibe – at least while we were there. “80’s Pop Sushi” would be more fitting than “Rock n Roll Sushi”. During our Friday evening visit, they played Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Sade’s Smooth Operator, and more along those lines. Definitely nothing I’d consider rock. ♀️
But back to the food, it was very tasty. We aren’t sushi eaters, and ordered hibachi. My chicken was cooked perfectly and the fried rice was really good. The vegetables were very good, but they are pre-portioned, so they can’t hold specific veggies if there’s something you don’t like. It was easy to pick out the mushrooms and onions and dump them on my husband’s plate, so he was happy.
Change the music to legit rock to fit the atmosphere of the restaurant’s guitars on the walls and we have a winner.
I had such high hopes and was SO EXCITED for this place to open. But the food is so bland and has absolutely zero flavor! The ginger salad dressing tastes like a yum yum sauce with ginger. It’s very off putting. Chicken was super dry with no flavor, rice has zero flavor as well. I know this isn’t an actual hibachi place but when you menu hibachi meals I do expect semi quality and flavor. Again, this food has absolutely no flavor! Luckily I had dressing at home and tasted what it came with before pouring all over the salad. I’m super bummed because I likely won’t go back. I understand it’s new and places need to work kinks out but when you pay for food that’s just meh it doesn’t make you want to pay again and hope for better. I do hope this business gets its kinks worked out and gets better. I ordered steak this time and it was cooked medium how I ordered, juicy and not tough at all. You could tell it was a good quality cut.
From the start, ordering was a bit frustrating. The girl taking our order didn’t seem to know what tempura sushi was and thought we were asking for tempura crumbs inside the roll. After explaining I meant deep-fried, she hesitantly responded, “Yeah, we can probably fry it.” Not the most reassuring answer.
Then, I ordered a chicken fried rice and was asked, “Side or full meal?” Who eats a side of chicken fried rice? After some back and forth, she said, “Nevermind, I was confused,” but never clarified if it was actually a full meal or if they even offered it as a side.
When we got the food, the fried rice still had carrots and onions despite my request for no veggies. Worse, it had small bits of burnt food mixed in. The portion was shockingly tiny—no bigger than my index finger. No exaggeration. While the flavor wasn’t terrible, you only got about five bites out of the entire dish.
The sushi, however, was the biggest letdown. It was hands down the tiniest sushi I’ve ever seen, and unfortunately, the flavor didn’t make up for the size.
That being said, the girl who helped us when we arrived was super nice and seemed to be handling a lot—not just guests coming in but multiple tasks at once. She was doing her best, which we appreciated, but the overall experience still wasn’t enough to make us want to return.
We genuinely wanted to like this place and support a new local business, but based on this visit, it’s a pass for us. Hoping they improve!
Top notch experience. I’ll definitely go back
