Saw this place recommended on social media. We got Kanaka Nui, Kalua pig bowl and mamaki tea (unsweetened). In agreement with other reviewers, I found the food to be astoundingly unremarkable (both in appearance and taste). It’s not unpalatable but just very bland. The tea was pretty dilute. For the price, you can do a lot better. This was not a meal to remember.

The ice cream was the only item worth purchasing on this visit. We got the sweet lady Tahitian. I would recommend both.

Super authentic and delicious Hawaiian food. Poi was fresh and perfect (although wish it was room temperature). Lau lau had lots of leaves and meat. Kalua pig and lomi salmon were good (try mixing them together). Haupia (coconut jello) was super creamy and not too sweet. Will definitely be back.

Waiahole Poi Factory, a local favorite and hidden gem, was a must-visit during our O’ahu trip. There was a small parking lot, but you could also park on the side of the street. When we arrived, the line was long. Despite the long line, it moved quickly, highlighing its popularity among locals and tourists. All food is ordered to-go, but there are a few tables and chairs to dine on-site. The restaurant’s no-frills atmosphere belies its cleanliness and efficient internal system, with all doors and windows open for full transparency.

When it was our turn to order, the helpful cashier went over the menu with us and emphasized his favorite items. We opted for the Beef Lu’au plate with rice and lomi salmon, along with a side of chicken long rice, a mochi dessert, and the sweet Mamaki tea. Since the restaurant was crowded, we decided to eat our food in the car.

The flavors were rich and authentic. It was our first time trying Beef Lu’au. While the taste was different, it was surprisingly enjoyable. The rice perfectly balanced the flavors. I particularly enjoyed the lomi salmon, and this was our favorite chicken long rice during our stay in O’ahu. My husband also loved the mochi dessert, though I wasn’t a fan of the texture, the flavors were tasty. This is the original location, so if you’re in the area or looking to try some authentic Hawaiian food, I highly recommend trying this place!

Not bad! Just everything lacked flavor. Poi was very watery. Their mochi desserts though are the best! Love the atmosphere being an outdoor cafe like. But no shelter, so if the rain comes you best be prepared to pack up and get into your car. The only dish I would recommend is the noodle soup. That was good and the glass noodles were also great.

This was an experience. Never had food like this before but i am always happy to try new things. It was different, but it was good! Seemed like a very healthy meal! We ordered a Squid Luau plate and a chicken bowl. Both were great, the ice cream that the plate came with was amazing! Id be giving this place a 5 star rating most days, but the day we went they were out of Poi at 11am and thats what i really wanted to try. If you’re interested in something different, this is your place.

Great local food spot. Kaula pig was delicious. Was hoping to get the Han pounded poi by it wasn’t available. The Po’e with ice cream was amazing. Would recommend and go back for sure. They also have a cool little store around the back.

I wasn’t impressed in my first visit where I got the kalua pork with taro leaves and poi. I found all three – the pork, taro leaves and poi – to be an acquired taste, but I respect the tradition as it is a sacred meal.

In my second visit, I got just the dessert – tahitian sweet lady – haupia icecream with poe (not to be confused with poi). The ice cream was delicious and the poe was superb – the combination of cold and warm works brilliantly. Just the dessert itself makes this a 5/5 place.

Parking can be tricky – they have a few spots but they get filled up fast. Once they do, they block the entry and you either park in the few spots across the street or you may have to take a lap around the neighborhood to wait for your turn.

Never eaten or even heard of poi before stopping at this homey Hawaiian shack off the side of the road and can assuredly say it’s an absolute must stop restaurant if you find yourself on the east side of Oahu! The place has a cute little store to buy nick-nacks while you wait for your grab-and-go order, but honestly our food was quickly prepared in under five minutes. Super happy that we stopped here to try a old-school, classic Hawaiian dish!

This place is likely to have a long line when you arrive, as it is one of the most famous on the island and a stop on most tours. The food is worth standing in line!

We had pulled pork with a kind of pico de gallo, and poi made from breadfruit that two people were pounding next to the kitchen. We also got the haupi or coconut pudding: coconut milk, sugar, cornstarch, in little squares. It is only a takeout place with picnic tables by the road. We then got a Sweet Lady for dessert: bread pudding with coconut ice cream that was delicious. What a fun meal of Hawaiian food!

Small parking lot but just wait around and a spot will come. Great vibes, good energy, good food, and dessert. Came here after visiting Kualoa Ranch.
