Southern soul food right here in Panama City. First a classic family diner, clean and tidy, a simple menu. Get here early as lunch time progresses the line does get longer. Order and pay and your meal is prepped and delivered. Had the Oxtail and fried Porkchops greens, Lima beans, Mac and yams. Full of flavor and the porkchops nice and moist. I would have like the oxtail a tad softer, but loved the flavor. I must say our service was excellent as we were tended to as we had our meal. Can’t wait to go back. If you are close to Panama City and hungry good southern hospitality and good awaits you at Josiah’s.

We walked in and my 10 year old shouted about how good it smelled. The owner/chef and the others working were kind and friendly. The food portions were so generous!! And delicious!! We all practically licked the plates. If you’re in Panama City, this restaurant is a must. Some of the best southern soul food I’ve ever put in my mouth

The owner was most rude. She laughed, smiled and talked to others, but completely ignored my husband and I as we stood at the carryout counter. I sensed her bad attitude the moment we walked in. Perhaps she could not hide her disdain for an interracial couple. Wife/Black. Husband/White.

To add insult to injury, after waiting more than 15 minutes, the food was not good! The pork chops were smothered in canned dark brown gravy. They were shriveled up and unrecognizable over mushy white rice. The fried okra was mushy too. The only thing that was somewhat edible were the collard greens and the store-bought chocolate cake. Even the hot water cornbread was yucky. I regret not taking pictures!

Needless to say, everything else on that plate went into the garbage. In our travels, we always try to patronize small businesses and we were disappointed that this establishment did not meet our expectations.

1st time visiting Josiah’s. I heard about Grouper throats and had to try them. They were described as big bones and big chunks of meat. That description was MOST ACCURATE with great flavor!! Oxtails were also on the menu and the owner brought me some to sample. It was tender and paired well with the rice and carrots! I also forgot to mention tje cornbread. Moist and tasty! We ordered pork chops and catfish to-go! The owner was Super Nice and attentive! If you’re in the Panama City area, and want some real home cooking, you definitely need to stop by Josiah’s Southern Cooking!

I’ve been in and out of Panama City for years, but yesterday was the first time I stumbled upon Josiah’s and what a place! Home cooked food cooked with passion, love, and personality by the owner, Ms. Sherylyn. This wonderful lady loves her customers and you’ll see that when you walk in the doors.
This quaint soul food restaurant offers some of the best food you’re going to get in Panama City!
The catfish, grouper, wings… are all good, and I only wish I could have tried more. The homemade cakes are to die for. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area, it’s worth it!

So their aren’t many words to describe how great this place is. I haven’t food like this since my granny passed. No seasoning needed at all. The owner is serious about her food and so funny. We had oxtails, fried Ribs, porkchop, rice gravy, chicken dressing, turnips, collards… and alloy of other stuff. Definitely have to come here if you’re in Panama City Florida. It’s worth going over the bridge and hitting MLK for some of the best soul food you’ve ever put in your mouth.

I ordered the fried catfish, potato salad and greens. This Was the best fried catfish I’ve had in years! It was flavorful, not too greasy/oily and tasted fresh. The prices were very reasonable. The staff was very welcoming and gave me excellent customer service! I highly recommend Josiah’s if you have taste for great soul food and excellent customer service!
