The food here always hits, and the people working are super chill and friendly. I brought someone to New Orleans and this was our first stop. After we left they said and I quote “okay, I trust you to pick the food for the rest of the trip, that was insane”

Some of the reviews didn’t give the KFC Spicy Tofu Bahn Mi a good rating, but I went for it anyway, and I was happy I did. It wasn’t mind blowing, but it was satisfying and I was happy I got it. Their French fries were fantastic, easily the best ones I’ve had in town so far. I was happy I stopped in a whim for lunch.

We went to Bahn Mi Boys on Magazine for the first time this past Sunday evening. We were excited to try it after watching YouTube videos and looking at the website. Wow, it was disappointing. I can tell that the concept is good, but the execution is abysmal.

We had the pork belly bahn mi and the chicken katau bahn mi and fries. The fries are fine and were hit and crispy. The sandwiches were OK. They could have been good, but they were underwhelmingly dressed and don’t look like the photos on the website unfortunately.

When we arrived, we had to interact with a machine, and no one greeted us. The soda machines didn’t work. An employee came out from behind to fix it and was somewhat successful, but the machines were a little off, and the employee did not care at all.

The restaurant and restroom were FILTHY. No one cared at all. It wasn’t busy at all, but there were unbussed tables, dirty tables, and trash filled restrooms.

I don’t normally slam places, but Bahn Mi Boys needs a wake up call. The idea is too good to not carry it through. I hope things improve.

As a frequent patron, I’m kinda sad to say that the quality has gone downhill. I love and appreciate that banh mi boys load up their sandwiches with carrots and daikon, but I think someone should taste test to see if they’ve been fermenting too long before serving. The veggies caused my sandwich to taste extremely sour. I had to remove all of the veggies from my sandwich & the bang bang shrimp were soggy from all of the excess veggies’ juice. Also my bread was real crummy and the outer layer was coming apart. This is not the quality that I’m used to from them but the last two visits have left me wanting to not go back.

Wanted some light fresher food after the same old stuff. Very friendly staff. Made great recommendations and were accommodating. The grilled pork banh mi was delicious along the bmb. Just what I was looking for. We are mayo fiends so we had them add some kewpie to each. Got a side of grilled pork spring rolls and crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was good but maybe a little bland or one note. Regardless, still great food all around.

This was my first time at Banh Mi Boys and what caught my attention was their unique menu. They have a wide variety of sandwiches, loaded fries, wings, and more. Basically if you’ve never been, their sandwiches are like a Vietnamese twist on a Southern Po-boy. I tried the new chef special which is not currently listed on the menu, but if you ask about it you’ll be able to order it. My sandwich was flavorful, filling, & most of all delicious. If your tastebuds are looking to try something different, I highly recommend trying out this establishment.

Fantastic spot for a quick bite.

I’m honestly surprised at some of the reviews, but noticing a theme that most of the bad reviews were ordered via a delivery service. Dining in, the experience is great.

Ordered and received our meal extremely quick. Everything was served hot and fresh. The chicken katsu banh mi is phenomenal. The spring rolls and vermicelli are also great.

If you’re going to review a spot, do the restaurant a favor and dine in. You won’t regret it here.

Ordered via Door Dash. Chicken Katsu banh mi sandwich was weak. Sandwich build was lazy and overcooked the chicken. Presentation sucked. Does the photo look appetizing to you? Yuck

Chicken Wings were juicy and flavorful, cooked nicely and good presentation for a delivery order. Fries were flavored well.

The sandwich just killed the meal. Definitely skip.

Banh Mi Boys – Cute Spot, But the Food Missed the Mark

Banh Mi Boys is tucked into a charming, gentrified neighborhood and definitely scores points for aesthetics—it’s a cute, cool spot that draws you in with its trendy vibe. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting.

Let’s start with the egg rolls. It’s hard to ignore the overwhelming taste of freezer burn, which lingered far too long after the bite. The spring rolls were fresher, but the meat inside was overly salty, which threw off the balance you’d typically expect in a roll.

The Thai tea was another letdown. It had the color and the sweetness, but almost no tea flavor—more like vaguely tea-flavored milk.

As for the grilled pork noodle salad—well, it was missing the noodles, which was a surprise (and not the good kind). The cucumber had a bitter edge, likely from the unpeeled skin, and the pork was both dry and aggressively salty, which overpowered everything else on the plate.

Overall, while the space was inviting and the concept is promising, the execution really needs work. There’s potential here, but the flavors and freshness just weren’t there.
